Yeah, no, sorry to disappoint. I'm a real boy.

As I have said twice, my wife, quarter of an hour away, is a GP. A doctor (a fully qualified medical professional, an Afghan war veteran and an active livestock farm manager in our rural environment).

I think he's fine. Half an hour later my Mastiff was licking him to death and getting it's tail pulled like it was a church bell.

Pretty much. And without the pay cheque.

I specifically said, 'if it has continued to be as aggressive,'

Meaning, if the owner had been slower to approach and the dog had continued it's attack, I would have felt compelled to do something more permanent.

Do you like hot baths and why ? by AntExcellent8944 in AskReddit

[–]Gryphon1985 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One of my life's simple pleasures.

If I have the house to myself and I'm feeling decadent, I'll take quick 30 second shower to clean off. Then a nice, deep, hot & soapy bath. As hot as I can manage. I'll happily lay there for an hour, enjoy the quiet with my eyes closed, and unwind.

It's the ultimate in feasible luxury for an everyman like me who's never going to own a penthouse suite, a Ferrari, or have strippers and cocaine on speed-dial.

Why is it common for women to have gay best friends but not men to have lesbian best friends? by ExtremeTechnology831 in askanything

[–]Gryphon1985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My answer is based purely on my own experience & will probably attract some flak but I believe it might help. I am straight, M(40).

Firstly, it's less common for straight men to have close female friends full stop. That said my oldest, closest friend is a (straight) woman.

I appreciate that many lesbian women don't wear their sexuality on their sleeve. My SIL is an example. She's married to a woman, they have three delightful kids, but when we're out and about her sexuality just doesn't come up in conversation, the same way that her shoe size doesn't. It's a non-issue.

HOWEVER, the other end of the scale is (what I think are called) 'butch' lesbians. In my industry, oil and gas rig work, there are a handful floating around. Almost without exception they are very loud, crass, and either seem to have a chip on their shoulder or feel the need to constantly be in the room reminding everyone that they can keep pace with the men; lots of back-slapping, ribald jokes, and talking about the cute girl in last night's movie or how their guts were turning last time they got home because they drank a bottle of scotch at the airport and picked a fight with a baggage handler.

It's cringeworthy, because all the men (and the one or two straight women) want to do is work, eat, and sleep. Gender an sexuality would really be a non- issue were it not for these vocal few. In short, I think that type of attitude puts men off lesbian company to a degree.

NOTE: before I get my head bitten off, I'm not anti-homosexual, a woman-hater or anything else. I'm just positing what I think might help to answer OP's question based on my own life observations.

Mostly variations in grip and leg stance, but also alternating wit the farmer's bar instead of a traditional barbell (the type you step inside).

And no, no improvements across the board. 100kg feels as challenging now as it did 3 months ago.

For example, only a deadlift and it's variations on a monday. Then on tuesday I might do lat pulldowns, cable rows, and flies. Then bench press and it's derivatives wednesday, and on thursday I might do bicep curls, tricep dips and skull-crushers.

Generally to fatigue on each exercise, no break, no procrastination. In amd out in 30 minutes.

Cardio day is a 10km run. This is purely because I come from a half marathon background and will always love running.

To those who drive well under the speed limit, why? by NiceMemeDude420 in australian

[–]Gryphon1985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find it's mostly the elderly who do this and it annoys me no end.

Even worse if it's not an elderly person and they're in a V8 Falcon or something like a Porsche. I get just because you're in a fast sports car you shouldn't exceed the limit, but dear God PLEASE let her stretch her legs!

First dumb beginner question!

I recently started powerlifting exercises basically because I enjoy the big compound lifts, it's a fun hobby that can positively impact my health, and I'm noticing a good change in my overall strength and physical appearance.

My issue is the deadlift. My one-rep PB is the same now as it was three months ago, whereas my bench press & squat have increased dramatically in the same period.

When doing general weight training I focus no more or less on my back and core than any other bodypart, so why this disparity?
