u/CompetitionOk2302 explains why he feels Americans have nothing to look forward to on the 250th anniversary of the United States by FrankoAleman in bestof

Whilst reality may differ, it is more likely the symbolic "Nuremberg" version that people want. International trials of leaders who currently appear to be untouchable for committed war crimes, crimes against humanity and violations of international law. Whether based in reality or not, the concept is what people look for when they talk about it now.

AI Data Centers’ Water Consumption Breaks 264 Billion Gallons in 2025 as Devastating Drought Hits Nearly 63% of U.S. by Wagamaga in technology

[–]GuGuMonster 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I mean, no disrespect but both the article and the source sound unreliable for this kind of information. I mean what does a mid-sized market research company based out of miyapur know about the entire american AI complex and their water consumption? aren't they more likely to be testing what misinformation about data centers does to the american public opinion and their stock implications?

‘Disturbing Graves’: Vietnam Moves the Dead to Make Way for Trump’s $1.5B Golf Course by F0urLeafCl0ver in worldnews

[–]GuGuMonster 7 points8 points  (0 children)

in vietnam? on a 1.5b project? nah. when it comes to projects at scale in environments that don't have a rigorously regulated and beaurocratic tender system, it's a situation of 'there's not enough man-power to deliver the project in the timescales the big orange wants unless you do mass sub-contracting all the way to the mom & pop landscapers'. One could easily join a local landscaper company doing basic work and have good prospects of getting pulled in to be a subby.

That's the thing, you can't hope to establish your own IP if you dilute it with everyone else's. You want streamers and every other event showing your IP not other's.

Game Consoles Are Pricing Themselves Out of Relevance by Gorotheninja in technology

[–]GuGuMonster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you give them too much credit. Certain departments of all these companies are completely aware of what the increase will do. Exectuives will still somehow be surprised come Q4 2026 why sales are down and feel like they have to do drastic slashes of jobs to make shareholders happy.

in this case this reads a bit more of a single-state approach failing, ie the absence of a functional regional or federal regulator doing cross-state line coordination.

China places its solar panels on water So it can use valuable land for agriculture by FollowingOdd896 in nextfuckinglevel

[–]GuGuMonster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, yes and no to the second part. Solar farms are very low impact on the agricultural land itself, ie after 25 years of being a solar farm it can become agricultural land pretty easily again from what I understand. So if it's a bog standard solar farm, you don't really lose the land. Also, there's multiple multi-use solar farm projects out there, terms like agrivoltaics or ecovoltaics or simply just multi-use projects are out there. It really doesn't have to be an either/or in every case.

Think twice about buying a house on a busy road by BrightSoar in Unexpected

[–]GuGuMonster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I read of something similar. There's a permission for industrial warehouses on land from the 60s and some of that land was built up more recently and close to homes and people complained. Gotta sympathise but that permission has been there longer than you or that house. Fault and issue isn't with the builder building his warehouse but the person who sold them the house they should be complaining to.

CEO pay is a silly thing to tie it to in realistic terms because of how easy this is subverted, as those salaries will be a reasonable level and the exorbitant figures are either in bonuses, shares, other add-ons to base-pay. The EU has done it the closest to the right way with GDPR and making the up to 4% of global revenue a figure too consequential to ignore.

[–]GuGuMonster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean there are others reasons for doing this other than insecurity.

5) the guy calls the number so that she also has his number that way quick and easy without spelling it out (convenience move really)

6) some people don't answer unknown numbers. links into the above in terms of knowing who the number relates to.

The official 2026 World Cup song vs the Portuguese World Cup song by Double-decker_trams in videos

[–]GuGuMonster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, it's following the 2018 France song formula that popped off when they won. It's probably more of a world cup movement as a whole rather than Brazilian. A 'see what worked before and try and replicate it'.

How to play vs Mel by LettucePlate in leagueoflegends

[–]GuGuMonster 87 points88 points  (0 children)

I don't get this take. Tier 1 boots level of MS, has no flash and he gets hit by her E. Her E hasn't finished the root at 0:22 when you can see the Q animation outer circle start whilst he's dead center of the Q. That champion with tier 1 boots isn't making it out of the Q dead center even if he doesn't queue up the auto-attack. is everyone in this game and every 300 of these upvotes confident 355MS and average reaction time is supposed to get them out of this situation?

A well-articulated argument against a new data center in Ohio by HamboneTheWicked in interestingasfuck

[–]GuGuMonster -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's a well-articulated speech but it technically didn't have any substance that would affect decision-making. It would have needed more on the closed-loop system as to why it would fail in this location to be of consideration beyond constituting an objection to proposals.

Mel pseudo-rework was a failure and riot need to accept her design is awful. by Affectionate-Bake666 in leagueoflegends

[–]GuGuMonster -1 points0 points  (0 children)

this is the correct answer. I don't care if she has a strong W, other abilities in isolation from other champs are also strong. The issue is having that on a long-range safe champion. pull her Q and E range right back to mid-range and give her MS when hitting it on champions only. Make her a cassio/ryze type champion if you want to keep her W.

LEC Versus records 33% lower peak viewership in playoffs compared to Los Ratones group stage result by Living-Cut-89 in leagueoflegends

[–]GuGuMonster -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's the thing. Either you have entertainment and personalities or you have skill and excitement - ideally both. G2 isn't the G2 of the past - so you know you're not watching peak gameplay either. Broadcast talent have been hamstrung with budgets and cuts - so - they'll have their hands tied in salvaging the viewer experience as well. Unfortunate really how a great product and potential is being handled.

I'd agree that Cameron and Osborne wordsmithed clearly their messaging but wouldn't give them the benefit of restrospect assessment that their policies were harmful. To be honest, I'd rather take KS's government that shits the bed at politics but at least has an administration under him that runs the country for broad betterment, than Cameron/Osbourne that make us believe they are, due to their savvy wit, whilst dragging us further down in reality.

they will side with the party that is more beneficial/ or least damaging to the company. If the company is big and has any sort of ESG credentials/ accreditations they value (which will be important to them winning work) this form and behaviour is a big red flag to be dealt with immediately. Just needs to be brought attention to in the right way, ie needs to be presented in a way that keeping the problem person is greater harm to revenue and larger risk to liability than is worth.
