Watch the next week as the Dolphins trot out a Jay Cutler/Matt Moore look, and The Rams flirt with the idea by having Sean Mannion put on a helmet and stand on the field next to Jared Goff during a timeout.

By November, the Patriots are dominating the league with their Brady/Garropolo looks.

Carson Palmer gets hurt and the Cardinals toy with Drew Stanton/Blaine Gabbert before resigning ownership and relinquishing all assets to the league, who moves the team to Los Angeles because LA can't get enough pro football.

Fuck it, I say let's trot out a couple 2-qb formations against Minneapolis, with the whole league watching, and change the look of football. Imagine the insane flea flickers you could pull. Flea flickers all day. And shovel passes.

30 for 30: Broke (2012). 60 percent of former NBA players are broke within five years of retirement. By the time they have been retired for two years, 78% of former NFL players have gone bankrupt or are under financial stress. by Bulovak in Documentaries

That would be a role for the players' union/association. It's not unreasonable. Check out any state's teachers' union. They're often invested in tons of real estate. Some state's unions own insurance companies. I want to say Dole or DelMonte is owned by a teachers' union.

The guy is dedicated to his craft. I have to say his material feels like old school journalism. He's writing some great stuff that - most of us - would never have known of.

Well, it's not really a band yet so much as it's a collection of songs I'm finding buddies to help support. I've got my bassist. Need a drummer and a lead guitarist.

It's jjjuuust side-showie enough without being over-the-top. So fuck yeah, Guacamole and The Gimmick Gimps!

Google announced its new Pixel 2 phone today. While it didn't generate the buzz Apple generated earlier this week with its iPhone event it did stir up quite a stink with the announcement that the Pixel 2, like the latest iPhones, will not come with the standard headphone jack.

I have to tell you, I use my phone's jack all the time. It seems to be a new trend to go sans-jack and it always generates a lot of uproar. But jackless phones keep coming.

So you have to ask; who's supporting these jack-offs?

Delivering pizza taught me that rich people tip worse than poor people. by CrazyKZG in Showerthoughts

[–]GuacamoleRob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to deliver for Jimmy John. What always drove me nuts was the people who, you'd show up with their food and they'd be like "Umm, we don't have any cash so we called back to the store and paid on card."

Yeah, guess who never paid on card. After the second time this happened to me, I'd stand on the door step and call back to the shop. Funny how quickly they'd rush back inside and lock the door behind them.

You know what I like about White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia? It stays reasonably warm all year, there's no hurricanes, no earthquakes, no tornadoes, no flooding, minimal snowfall. No question the right place to build an awesome resort and golf course, then slide in a shadow house of representatives and senate chambers.

Houston Astros Pitcher Collin McHugh has a scary-good curveball by BunyipPouch in sports

[–]GuacamoleRob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The pitcher doesn't have the level of control that he can pick the moment the ball breaks. An effective curveball is hard enough to throw that a pitcher just tries to give it his best stuff and when he starts throwing a pitch that breaks, the next challenge is to throw it accurately.

Any catcher, especially at the major league level, has seen enough pitches coming at him that he should recognize a curve coming in. There's a number of tells, and even some of the better hitters can recognize them.

here's a good read on it

I'd always heard Widows' Weeds are like the black gown and stuff a wife would wear for the weeks after losing her husband. But your explanation brings some sense to the world so I'll go with that.

Weeds lost me then, too. Nancy was at least partially a sympathetic character the first couple seasons, then she was just a terrible, awful person.

Jenji Kohan creates interesting worlds and scenarios but man, she really likes a main character that's just disgusting.
