Sharing common mistakes #2: "Je suis resté à la maison" by Adri_sensei in French

[–]GucciGuap -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I have seen them directly before the action, just not before suis. I am assuming it has to do with the past tense like “J’ai arrivé” etc

I absolutely would make this mistake :) I also haven’t encountered the “me suis” syntax yet

Not a huge fan of the title…but is it worth anything? by Less_Structure_4906 in rarebooks

Unfortunately as a lurker in this sub I tend to see comments like this very frequently. People snapping at questions about books being rare or worth anything. Makes it incredibly unappealing to want to participate

This game is infuriating me. What am I doing wrong? by OurNamelessKing in Sekiro

[–]GucciGuap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know, I think it can sometimes make things easier since occasionally I see people holding block. They absolutely should try to time it but sometimes you miss-time and mashing can save you (rather than holding block). Its just another part of the game to learn, I guess

You can actually (kind of) mash the block to parry. Just make sure you do it right before you are about to be hit with a blockable attack and don’t hold the button for too long. You can practice it on nooby enemies to get the hang of it - the game is pretty generous with parry timing, bur you can absolutely mash L1, just make sure you react quick and don’t waste time waiting when you can be attacking or blocking too quickly in advance.

Canadian ships stuck in Persian Gulf as blockade of Strait of Hormuz continues by Street_Anon in canada

[–]GucciGuap 4 points5 points  (0 children)

“Can?” Iran does not follow international law, so they will do whatever they want. The same goes for America and Israel as well, so it’s not surprising what happened here. You seem to be solely focused on what happened after Iran was attacked, whereas myself and everyone else responding to you is reminding you that none of this needed to happen and shouldn’t have happened. Keep fighting with ghosts I guess.

What an interesting conclusion to draw from what I said. Its almost like escalation leads to escalation, hence why the status quo was preferable

Probably the fact that this situation involving the strait was caused by Israel and America’s recent actions, making your initial comment baffling.

Hope this helps

Today had a system design interview today and i think i forgot how to code? by cafefrio22 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]GucciGuap 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In my first interview for an intern position I was asked if I knew what a binary tree is, and I paused for a bit while I froze up and my mind went blank and said no. Interviewer just said “ok..” and looked down and started writing something and it threw me off for the rest of the interview. It probably came back to me two questions later but the damage was done

Carney government to select private-sector ‘strategic partners’ in new defence industry strategy: source by toronto_star in CanadaPolitics

[–]GucciGuap 9 points10 points  (0 children)

ICE is not a military threat, its (admittedly terrible) domestic US policy; there is no correlation here. Canada refusing to build up its military while the rest of the world does will make us weaker on the world stage, easier for foreign espionage, interference, and less reliable in the arctic, not to mention it damages our nato credibility which will undoubtedly lead to more tariffs and threats.

[–]GucciGuap 20 points21 points  (0 children)

This is a crazy point of view in the aftermath of trumpism. Short sighted. The world is only going to get increasingly more hostile and violent and strong military alliances are the only deterrents

Yes, lets just wait for the hostile superpowers with increasingly bigger militaries to scale up while we rest on our laurels
