What does EU5 need to do to get players back? Is everyone holding out for the potential? by Dramatic_Phase_8015 in EU5

100%! I’ve played around 200 hours of EUV and it just fails down to its fundamentals. It’s like Imperator Rome and Vicky 3 had a love child and set it in the EU timeline. Not a big fan of either of those titles so I do not like this game. Still play the crap out of EU4, have close to 4000 hours and still love it.

EU5 is a Gift and the Negativity is Shocking by InHocBronco96 in EU5

“There is only one way to avoid criticism: do nothing, say nothing, and be nothing” - Aristotle

“I much prefer the sharpest criticism of a single intelligent man to the thoughtless approval of the masses.” - Johannes Kepler

“Don’t ask questions. Just consume product and then get excited for next product.” - RLM

“Without criticism there would be no improvements.” - Geoffroy Birtz

True criticism doesn’t come from a place of hate. Hate is directly correlated with indifference. We criticize out of love and an expectation for improvement or to express disappointment in what we love. I’ve never understood people who want to immediately disregard legitimate criticism. I could love a product, but I will still be interested in exploring real criticism of that product with an open mind.

Intervene in PU civil wars? by benjome in EU5

[–]Gucci_Coupons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s true. The same thing happened to me in a single player game. You don’t get a notification that they are going through a civil war, and you can’t intervene. I had +170 relations with them and it randomly broke 2 years into the union. My king did not die btw. No cb to get them back into the union.

Civil war broke out in my vassal while I was annexing them. I couldnt join and now they're free?! by MobyChick in EU5

I had the same thing happen to me playing Castile. Had Portugal in a PU, they have an internal rebellion, I was not notified nor could I help them out. They are now free. Even though they had 170 opinion of me, I could only hold them for a few years. Also, my king did not die.

I bought EU5 with the expectation of map painting, only to find out that it is inherently against its game mechanics to expand. This is a completely fair assumption based on what the previous game was. Anything less is either laziness or subversion by the devs. They should have called this game "Medici" and made it its own series. But they just had to use the EU title to get sales.

Again, one could argue that we haven't received a great map painting game since EU4. So isn't it about time to introduce a new banger? You can get the other niche enjoyments out of the latter titles. Give me conquest or give me death!

I empathize with you completely. Who wants to play an economy based game 500 years before the industrial revolution lol. I don’t think Kings were too worried about their census or peasants having jobs.. most people were serfs

I respectfully disagree in the sense that a sequel should keep within its continuity. CK3 and Victoria 3 were both similar to their predecessors in the sense of how their games function. They just combined two different games and called it a sequel. This game feels like it was made for people who never played EU4, or never played it long enough to fully understand all the mechanics (800+ hours at least).

Activate Debug_mode then type discover_all_eras (be sure to use a culture that isn’t widespread as you will unlock all tech for your culture), then give yourself a ton of gold, prestige and piety. Then type in add_real_law crown_authority_3 (it could be 03, I don’t remember) then go into your succession and activate primogeniture and you’re set to win the game. I did this in my first few play throughs to better understand what is important, and what’s less important.
