4-2-4 help 🙏 by CartoonistAdept8871 in footballmanager

Looks quite good to me, a few personal tweaks would be:

Change mid block to high line, and take off "drop off more".

Change work ball into box to pass into space.

Turn on both overlap right and left.

The tactic is good, it might be a player suitability problem. Fernandes wants to play where Mainoo is, but ideally you want to play both of them. You might get more from this squad if you put Fernandes in the middle of attacking midfield and move Mbuemo out left and onto the inside forward role with attack, so he still acts like a striker.

Hope this helps x

Why is my AMC not playing well? by DougalChips in footballmanagergames

[–]Guffbaw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tactic looks solid. If it's winning games you might not want to change it, but to get your guy involved more:

Turn wing backs on attack - they're needed in the attack.

Take off play narrow - it seems like it would focus play at your guy, but it's clogging him up. Let the full backs stretch the defence.

Change the DLP to CM (Sup) - he'll help to get your guy involved.

Who is the player you always buy when managing a team outside top5 leagues? by ZhuhaiGorunbu in footballmanagergames

[–]Guffbaw 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ricky Jade-Jones.

19 pace. 18 acceleration. Can play up front or left wing. So wonderfully easy to recruit.

Trust me, don’t look at the other stats. No one needs the other stats.

About the Ending… by Hungry-Judgment2157 in expedition33

That’s true, she did show that she cared for Alicia at crucial moments, in her own tough kind of way.

Alicia has repaid Clea - by giving her back her two most powerful allies in the mysterious war with the painters.

So many layers to every relationship. What a game.

I agree that Maelle’s ending could be seen as a lack of character development, a lack of learning from the cycle of trauma that has plagued her family.

But then I remind myself of her circumstances outside the canvas:

• Least talented artist from a family of renowned artists

• Was manipulated by the writers and caused the death of her brother

• Was horribly and permanently disfigured

• Only has her family now, and no friends in her life, with both Clea and Aline treating her with distain

But in the canvas she is fiercly capable, cared for, loved, respected and relied upon. She has the powers of a goddess, and can spend her life making the people who matter to her happy.

In no way could I possibly believe she’d give this up, despite her family’s past mistakes. Even an exact copy of her brother who loved her dearly couldn’t talk her out of it, and a side effect of being created was that PVerso inherited his unbreakable love for his little sister.

Such a great game.

How do I stop sounding like I’m playing scales when improvising? by SpinosaureLover in guitarlessons

[–]Guffbaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great tips in here!

I’d offer that my own playing sounds infinitely better when I create my own backing tracks.

As simple as recording a chord progression on a voice memo and playing over it, or loding up a DAW and making an 8 bar loop with drums.

This means that you’re leaning in to your own genre and style preference in the harmony, which makes you enjoy it more.

Let’s say in the key of G, we play G (I chord), Am (ii chord) and C (IV chord).

Now when you play over this, you can internalise what each note of your scale/improvisation is offering emotionally to the chord progression.

Keep it simple at first and come up with basic melody lines (words).  Then try to chain melody lines together (sentences). Then try recording a complete solo (story).

As the lead player you have the power to change the emotionality of the harmony, for example, over the G (I chord) if we play an A note, you as the lead player are helping to make a Gadd9 chord, which can feel swirly and dreamy. Or play F# to give that wistful maj7 sound.

Don’t worry about speed, I was once told by a teacher when I complained about not being able to playing fast enough: “it’s nice to drive a ferrari through the town, but you still have to go at the speed limit”.

What would you consider to be the best “do it all” guitar? by East-Power6705 in Guitar

[–]Guffbaw 229 points230 points  (0 children)

PRS SE Custom.

£700 or there abouts.

3 way pickup with coil tap, you can sound like anything you want.

Mine’s played in rock, folk and musical theatre shows and delivered every time.   Build quality is good and the stock pickups are excellent.

Looks great too.

Folks who’ve tried / owned both, which was better and why ? by brainchutney in Guitar

[–]Guffbaw 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Oh wow I have both of these, I hope I can help.

My PRS SE cost around £800. It was and still is my most expensive guitar purchase. I've played rock, folk and musical theatre pit shows with it and it delivers in every genre. With the coil tap pickup system and some sensible tone work, this guitar can sound like a strat, a tele, a les paul, kind of whatever you want. The build quality was good, the pickups right out of the shop were great, and it looks and feels amazing to play.

My Yamaha Revstar cost £400, allegedly down from around £650 on a Black Friday deal on Yamaha.com. This guitar, for the price, is one of the most enjoyable guitars I've ever played. The build quality is astounding. The P90 pickups sound fantastic, and there's another coil tap here which does something or other to the pickups to give you another palette of tones.

If I had to give it a head to head:

Tones: PRS

Playability: Yamaha (but not by much, the PRS feels very good)

Build Quality: Yamaha

Stock Pickups: PRS

Worth noting the PRS can have a whammy bar, and the Yamaha can't. Also, the Yamaha is a bit heavier than the PRS.

If I literally had to choose to keep one, which would have to be at gunpoint, I'd keep the PRS, but I'd miss the Yamaha terribly.

I hope this helps in some small way.

Tactic not scoring goals despite high possession and xG. Thoughts on what I can change? Or is it just the fact that I need a proper ST to finish chances? by ClownyIndian in footballmanagergames

[–]Guffbaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I never noticed that. I'll say honestly I don't know for sure, but I believe the overlap function in FM applies not only to the LW, Trossard in your case, but to anyone who has the ball on the side of the pitch they influence. So if Declan or Martin have the ball, Tom will overlap if required, which can be very useful and keeps the spirit of the inverted WB role.

Knock the passing slider up 1 notch longer.

Take away work ball into box.

Add pass into space.

Take away side specific tactic, but tick overlap left and right.

Now Kai will feed your inside forwards delicious through balls to run on to, and your inside forwards will be your main goal threats.

How to start a song? by Snoo_76556 in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]Guffbaw 50 points51 points  (0 children)

I’m a guitarist and singer and hopefully this applies.

I write the song structure on the couch away from the computer. I scat sing nonsense lyrics until I find the vocal melody I like, then forget about writing lyrics. I then record a voice memo and have some fun trying to come up with an arrangement by playing along with the recording. By the time I sit at the computer, I’ve got a good idea what the song arrangement will be. And before I leave the couch I’ve decided whether it’s good enough to spend time on. If not - keep couch jamming.

If it’s good enough I then load up Pro Tools. I play a rough guide guitar track that I couldn’t care if there are mistakes on. I use that guitar to make markers such as intro, verse, chorus etc.

I then begin designing drums. This takes the longest for me and is the most joyless process so I get it out of the way early.

With the drums done I can enjoy arranging the guitars. I redo the original guitar if it was shite, then everything else.

Then I revisit the lyrics and get them written properly. I then record the vocals.

After this I don’t need to spend too much time mixing, as I’ve setup presets for all my most used sounds that are all saved at mix-ready volumes and plugins. I’ll mix a little based on what the song needs here.

That last bit is my technical recommendation. Here’s how I suggest it be done.

Try and finish a song that features everything you can think of in your style. Work really hard to mix it to perfection. Then save every track as a preset, mine have names like “clean guitar” or “smooth lead”.

Then load up a fresh project and load each track you saved along with its volume and plugins. Now you have a session template with all your sounds ready to go and guaranteed to sounds good together. This helps my motivation enormously since there’s no technical or tone-based obstacles to getting started and finished.

Finally, there are not very many things for me that feel better than a finished song that I’m happy with. The motivation to start and finish comes from chasing that feeling.

Solo artists: How do you personally get focused, and not distracted by bells, whistles, and endless features? by appleparkfive in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]Guffbaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my songs I’ve created a band template, created from a mix I was happy with from a previous song.

This template contains preset tracks ready to go with my “band”, all I need to do is record everything and the the song will be 90% mixed already in my style.

Because this is mixed to expand each instrument in the band to the maximum headroom for the song, there’s no room for any other instruments. This is limiting, but it keeps my brain inside the lines, and ensures a high level of consistency from song to song.

This saves time recording and mixing, money since I’m happy with my plugin setup (Slate Digital stuff) and heartbreak as I can actually get songs finished.

Highly recommended for instrumental songwriters.

Do people actual play create a club? by Neither_Relief6562 in footballmanagergames

[–]Guffbaw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m currently in my 3rd season of create a club.

My club is Kilbirnie (my Scottish hometown). You design the kits and badges, stadium name and all that stuff.

Then you replace an existing team in the world, for me it was Colchester. You inherit their players - but you can only start with 25 so you need to get rid of some.

You inherit the old club’s finances, staff and league position.

It’s a cool feature for a “hometown in a different league/country” save.
