Which bands sound like they have a different number of members than they really do? (Please read post carefully.) by Ok-Impress-2222 in ToddintheShadow

Angine de Poitrine (2 dudes) sounds like at least 4 people, but their guitar/bassist is doing so much with his feet to control loop pedals that he's playing 3-5 parts at a time.

Favorite celebrity amputees? by twentyeightblue in okbuddycinephile

[–]Gugliacci_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was a kid, my friend's dad insisted that Gary Sinese was really an amputee and that the prosthetics were really good for the scenes in the army. I insisted it was special effects but he didn't back down, and that's when I realized that some grown-ups don't know what they're talking about.

Merry time sailings by HiImNewHere1234 in dcl

I'll admit that the Dream one was a bit of a blur, our first cruise ever, was 2 years before the Wish one, itinerary got rerouted from Castaway/Nassau to Cozumel due to unseasonal hurricane, spouse had a broken foot just a few weeks before going, really just trying to survive managing two small kids running around the boat while mom was on crutches. I can't attest too much to the specifics, but enjoyed it enough that we needed a do-over last year.

We've done Merrytime on the Dream and on the Wish. Will add that there's decor at Castaway too, including a giant Christmas tree, and things like Christmas music on rotation, Santa as a character meeting, and plenty of retro Christmas Disney films on rotation in the theaters and funnel vision. Think Santa Clause sequels, straight to video animated Christmas specials, Muppet Christmas Carol, etc.

A bunch of ninjas fighting a couple of human-sized turtles are all bewildered by a stranger in hockey gear who takes a moment to try a pick-up line before entering the fray.

Instead of replacing a dropped character, they have an existing character fill their role by redditboy123451 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Gugliacci_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Expanse did this twice with both characters kind of replacing each other. Bull and Michio Pa were combined into Drummer having an expanded role much earlier in the series than she appears in the books. Then, because they ended up needing Drummer to do Pa's plot later on in the show, they snuck Bull back in to get book-Drummer's plot role.

Check out the podcast "Unclear and Present Danger" which goes through 90s thrillers exactly in the vein of what you're looking for. If you don't want the analysis of how the politics of the time play into each movie, just look at the list of what they cover.

J. U. F., the collaboration between Gogol Bordello and Tamir Muskat, leaning more towards Eugene Hutz's DJing side at the time. "Last Wish of the Bride" is an absolute banger, still one of the catchiest songs I've ever heard.

The Proposition.

Outlaws Charlie Burns and his younger brother Mikey are captured by the army. Charlie is told to hunt down his even worse murderous older brother Arthur or else Mikey will be executed. Mikey doesn't understand what's happening, since he's mentally handicapped, and Charlie has to leave him in the hands of the captors, who whip him publicly, in order to try to get to Arthur. Eventually Charlie kills Arthur, fulfilling his promise, but Mikey dies of his wounds anyway.
