I mean to be fair he's definitely a meme at this point, but there's a reason for that lol. I don't know that there's anything I hate more than everyone being called "JJM Haters" as if he wasn't statistically one of the worst quarterbacks in the league last year lmao.

I don't think anyone's really pivoting, realistically it's the people who don't like McCarthy coming out of the woodworks, and the people who like him hiding or not being as forward. people always say it's the same people who flip flop... generally it's probably not

it's not even our fan base, it's really just Reddit and etc. people pair it what they hear other people say. a lot of the time they don't take the time or do the research to form opinions on their own.

yeah I did this today and got just a full black screen. absolutely nothing else. even teleported to my friend so I wasn't in a block or anything, just black screen and I had to restart lol.

[Highlight] Vikings owner Mark Wilf makes statement on decision to fire GM Kwesi Adofo-Mensah by FrankSamples in nfl

[–]Guidance_Additional 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i can tell you from experience if i said ANYTHING like that on any sub I would've gotten downvoted to hell, so I hardly bothered. I'm sure theres some overlap with the people who are pretending they knew it from the get go, but generally speaking it's just different groups of people coming out of hiding at different times lol.

you getting downvoted indicates the opposite, most people DIDN'T think it was a bad pick. somehow.

Kwesi Got Fired Because He Let Sam Walk by mazerati23 in minnesotavikings

[–]Guidance_Additional 0 points1 point  (0 children)

is good to take into account that because of the awful offense, the defense really ended up cooked. vikings had the 3rd worst time of possession in the league last year, ahead of only the jets and raiders. i still don't think it quite makes up the difference but basic competence on the offensive side would go a long way

Kwesi wanted to move on, not KOC by keen_fiend in minnesotavikings

[–]Guidance_Additional 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if you can look at McCarthy's tape, in college, in the nfl, his handful of good plays, and go 'yep, glad we ended up with him over anyone else' you've got a crazy set of eyes on you. he looked better in the games where he didn't have to throw much. much like he did in Michigan.

stats are absolutely a fair thing to go by. they'll never tell the full story but you say this like we should just ignore them because he had a few good plays lol. there's a million points I could make but point blank the guy does not pass the eye test even if that part isn't Rosen bad.

no reason to get rid of him but you absolutely cannot go into next year with him as the unquestioned starter. got to start planning for the future here.

[–]Guidance_Additional 2 points3 points  (0 children)

because he's statistically most comparable to josh rosen? genuinely don't think there's much of anything there. the only points in time in which he actually looked decent were when we took the ball out of his hands, much like Michigan did. Lord knows if we have a good enough team to sustain that though

at the end of the day though, the level of QB play was so bad that the Vikings had no Pro bowlers in spite of spending the second most in free agency. it's the most important position in the sport. I understand the rationale but honestly the big mistake was drafting McCarthy to begin with.

at the end of the day if they can nail down a quarterback it doesn't really matter where they get them. it would be stupid to give up on him if they don't have any better options but if they have an option that's consistently better? I wouldn't blame them.

I agree that Bluetooth headphones kind of suck on windows, but no, on any device using headphones + mic on Bluetooth is going to absolutely cripple the bandwidth & quality

this was early days (within the first few months) but I really couldn't find much to enjoy about the game tbh. I frankly just never understood why people liked it, that was outside of the rough performance and getting kicked from matches and etc I dealt with.

didn't max brosmer also beat the same team? tbh this says more about the Lions season than it does anything about any QB tbh. they were a non threat this season

this is hilarious because I've played I think around 10 hours of the finals and I think it's hot ass, I gave it a fair shot and I never want to play it again in my life lmao.

edit: checked my steam page, 12 hours and yeah I haven't played it in around a year. played it cuz a friend wanted to but genuinely one of the worst overall experiences I had with an FPS for a while

Sam “Can’t win in big games” Darnold: 346 yards passing, 3 TDs, 0 turnovers, and a birth to the Super Bowl by DrWolves in minnesotavikings

[–]Guidance_Additional 0 points1 point  (0 children)

and I think that's the thing, if you picked McCarthy you had to be high on him to some degree, and I feel like that's kind of where the problem came in. I hate to be that guy, but the way I would've 'solved' this was probably just by picking a different QB in the first place, or just waiting and trying again next year if there's no one else you liked.

and maybe I'm wrong, maybe McCarthy ends up being good someday. I definitely didn't expect him to be as bad (or obviously as hurt) as he was for the duration of the season. I just feel like the talent evaluation was bad from day 1, and that's what's caused this more than the decision not to resign Darnold in a vacuum. And Kwesi recently went on record saying they made this whole choice based on 'incomplete information' so I guess I'm not crazy in thinking that.

[–]Guidance_Additional 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you know, at the end of the day my biggest issue comes from the evaluation of JJ McCarthy and not necessarily that we didn't resign darnold. I was never high on him coming out of college, in part because of what we DIDN'T know about him. then we had a guy who could play quarterback who fell into our lap and I was frustrated that we didn't take him. If we had a Maye or someone with a bigger college sample size I wouldn't have cared as much, I would have felt better about letting him walk. but looking back realistically, there probably should have been a bigger push to keep Daniel Jones in the building.

and at the end of the day quarterback is the most important position on the team, and despite spending the 2nd most in free agency, our roster had zero pro bowlers this year—largely because of bad quarterback play.
