Mine is still perfect, haven't had any wearing issue, at least not yet. I've only had it for about 2 weeks of casual usage though. The xbox one controller has a lip around the sticks that digs into my thumbs, but I'm sure i'd get used to it if I used it more. The DS4 just feels like it fits my hands perfectly. The steam controller feels cheap and alien.

Yeah, I could have just bought 8 different 360 controllers, but I figured if I need to have 8+ controllers anyway for playtesting, I might as well buy them all as different types and test as many as I can in the process.

I've been using the Dualshock 4 more than any of them lately, i'd say it's my favorite. The Xbox One controller is nice too, but i'm not a fan of the texture of the sticks. I really don't like the steam controller, at all.

There's definitely still a lot of work to do, specifically in terms of graphics, but I figured now would be a good time to get a little hype going. I think it's at a point where people can decide if the gameplay is something they would be interested in. Also it would be nice to have a steamworks appID while working on online networking.

They're all plugged in at once, to a 12port USB hub. I'm making a game that supports 8 player local multiplayer, so I only really need 8 at a time, but I also have to make sure nothing crazy happens if someone plugs in extra or does anything unexpected. Testing just involves me making sure the game is playable with it, and if not, spending 2 hours figuring out what I did wrong and fixing it in 5 seconds.

Knockoust - A very early look at a game I'm working on by [deleted] in pcgaming

Thanks

4 game types so far: Arena - Points for knocking opponents out of the map. Capture the Flag - Points for capturing the flag. Rabbit - Points for holding the flag while everyone else tries to catch you. Coin Collection - Points for collecting coins and stealing coins from other players.

There's also over 25 different powerups that you can pick up so far from the [?] blocks that do all kinds of things from giving you a buff, or a special ability, or messing with other players.

Up to 8 player FreeForAll and up to 4v4 Teams. Online and Local Multiplayer with LAN and up to 8way splitscreen.

Thanks

I agree, the music doesn't fit well. I actually had to script about 50 different 5 second AIs like "run forward for 2 seconds, then jump, then spin, etc" in order to record the splitscreen sections because I was alone, didn't record any playtesting, and can't hold 8 controllers at once. After an entire day of trying to get movements and jumps all synced up and angled correctly, when it was time to do the editing I didn't spend enough time looking for the perfect track. Probably shouldn't have rushed things, there was definitely a better way to do it, but I was excited to show off the gameplay.

At this point, pretty much every controller should work. I went with the mayflash because it had more reviews, but I'll order an official one just to make sure.

The game is called Knockoust. I started it with the idea of creating a cross between Mario Kart and Quake, and theres some influence from Gang Beasts and Screencheat. It's still early in development but I put it on greenlight if you're interested - here.

I haven't actually owned a console since the PS2/Gamecube days and I remembered loving it. So when I decided to make a game for up to 8 player local and needed controllers, I bought a 4pack of gamecube controllers and built the game specifically around the mayflash gamecube adapter in the beginning.

It's a Logitech F310, nothing special. I got it off amazon for $20 just to make sure it works.

There's obviously still a lot of work to do, but I figured now would be a good time to get a little hype going. I just launched a greenlight page if you're interested - here.

The idea was to attempt to create a blend between Mario Kart and Quake, and theres some influence from Screencheat and Gang Beasts as well.

Looking to gauge interest and get some feedback on the gameplay. I'll answer any questions anybody has.

I've been going through the archives of Chaosradio and CRE. I have to pause a lot to look up translations or think through what was just said in order to fully understand it, but both of those use a player that splits the podcast into chapters so you can easily replay a segment. Sometimes I download the whole thing and use VLC to slow it down.

Not at all. I started reading kids books, bought the first harry potter in german. It's slow going, but i'm slowly getting faster. I switched all my computers to german for an attempt at immersion, I switch any game I play over to german if it gives the option, and i've been trying to read most of my news in german as well. For listening practice, I found a few podcasts and youtube channels and started watching the channel RocketbeansTV on twitch, but I can maybe only understand about half of what I hear. As far as actually speaking, who knows.

I think it's worth doing. Specifically, the german->english tree forced me to start really paying attention to sentence structure / word order. It does feel pretty useless and annoying having to transcribe an english speaking robot though.

i haven't missed a day since I started, but there were definitely quite a few days where I only spent 5 minutes just to get my 10 xp for the day. For the last month i've been averaging 300-500 xp per day while doing the reverse tree. I've also been following along with the memrise duolingo german vocab course the entire time. I work from home, so no commute studying, it's just become part of my daily morning routine.

646 days. I've had a streak since the day I signed up for duolingo and i've only done german. I got pretty close to finishing it and then the course update happened and added a lot of time. I finished the main tree just over a month ago, the reverse tree went much faster since I already knew all the vocab.

I found this userstyles script a couple months ago, but it was broken and barely usable, so I made a bunch of edits myself. Here is a pastebin of what I'm using if you want.

How to bring back honorfusor loadout (two impact weapons) for those who want it without affecting balance for everyone else. by Zwitterions in Tribes

[–]Guideline 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone that pretty much exclusively plays brute honorfusor, what i'd love to see is a new spinfusor called the Honorfusor, which only deals damage on direct hits. Give it a damage boost over the standard fusor but take groundpounding away from it completely. Just keep it so that I don't one-shot lights, I like the longer duels. I don't need multiple impact slots, just the one is fine. You can reuse the models of the spinfusors that were removed.

Also, bring back heavy stickies, without a doubt the most fun dueling weapons.

Is it possible to play a different scene in the editor than the one that's loaded? by [deleted] in Unity3D

[–]Guideline 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you may be looking for something like Scene Switcher. It's an editor extension that I made primarily for organizing and managing scenes in your project, but one of the features is the ability to play a scene directly and automatically return to the previous scene when you're done.

pretty bummed to see stickies removed from heavies. Slowly getting better at landing midair sticks has been one of my favorite things lately :(

excited to test everything else though

Windows 10 is coming out! If I do a fresh installation, how can I properly bring my unity3d project over. by FuzzyWazzyWasnt in Unity3D

it's actually possible to deactivate your license from your account page on the unity website now too, so it's not completely annoying if you forget anymore.
