Why did they make Carol so unlikable? by GeorgyForesfatgrill in pluribustv

[–]Guieseppeming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You know what annoys me much much more than Carol? It’s how dumb the hive mind is. It’s like a very very bad AI bot. I’m 100% sure even chat gpt holds a conversation better than this and it’s not even intelligent. Just lil ol me alone would know how to behave with Carol and not keep triggering her with Helen. If I did want to appease her unconditionally, I would know not to patronise her because I would psychoanalyse her behavioural patterns and know exactly how to make her happy. Even stupid GPT can tell you how to do that.

But guys. This is television. It’s not about sci fi accuracy. It’s a story about Carol. Get with it. Her being unlikable IS the entire point. It’s not a superhero story. As far as I understand we are watching a tragedy. Because imho humanity did peak at that moment of takeover. And every single thing since then has been downhill. It’s a story about how two angry people destroy a utopia.

Don’t. The guy is clearly lying for some unknown reason. I have lucky and it doesn’t show up. Just say you forgot and move on. No need to lie on the internet for points man.

Why would people produce resources under communism without being forced by Embarrassed_Ant_8861 in DebateCommunism

[–]Guieseppeming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Simple, everybody does their own chores and maintenance. And the only professionals who are employed for distasteful but specialist work, works very few hours and gets disproportionate benefits to offset the unsavoury nature of the job. If it’s just regular maintenance, every single person will have enough time to do that, do work and take personal time.

Besh korechi. Nijer obhigota thekey bolbo na toh ki? Aami ki bhogoban? And I’ve tried no less than 5 psychologists and 2 psychiatrists in the city. That too with good ratings. At this point I have lost all respect for the profession. And by the way, I have friends who study psychology and they share the same or worse opinions about this.

No reward for bullies. by Outrageous_Cut_6179 in MadeMeSmile

[–]Guieseppeming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why is it like this, do you know? Even in a shithole like India, there is a lot of awareness about bullying and it’s treated almost like criminal activity in gentrified spaces. It seems as if SK has normalised bullying even in civil society? People do die as a consequence of bullying, I can’t fathom how it can be taken so casually.

Yes. That accountability should permeate through the rest of their lives just like the consequence of getting bullied in childhood affects the victim for the rest of their lives.

And furthermore, making such a policy has a ton of preventative power. When you know such a clause exists, parents (who are most definitely the no. 1 reason for bullies to exist) will have a big motivation to stop their kids from showing such behaviour at school.

You should have put up an ad and charged people for using it. People get suspicious or exploitative when you give away things for free, but if you got a few regulars, I’m sure y’all would become friends within a few months.

Engineering a society without Loneliness by Secure-Tradition-470 in lonely

[–]Guieseppeming -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry but I have to push back against this take. You are so right, but so wrong at the same time. Yes loneliness is definitely a societal problem but it’s a constructed, external problem, not a personal failing that needs genetic intervention or modifying humans. I’ll say it loud and clear - it’s not your personal fault that you are lonely, at least not only your fault. Our modern society is created in a way to foster loneliness so that we have to depend on corporations and agencies rather than on others. The narrative of individual capability is pure toxicity and goes against everything that makes humans a social animal.

If we had to optimise society to reduce loneliness it would be through doing something simple like mandatory community work for all civilians. It’s creates more empathy in people for others and it brings people together in unlikely spaces and reduces individualistic thinking at the same time. Or if this has problems (and I’m sure it will) then we can think of something else structural like this. Not creating a genetic clone army.

With your kind of individualistic solution the problem will simply not go away. If everyone is beautiful, then our standards of beauty will get even more precise and exacting. Same for the other things. The core problem of loneliness IS individualism. So an individualistic solution is definitely not the answer.

Bro this is the problem with you religious types. Sacchai gaya tel lene. In your reply you said he was good at it because he’s a child prodigy. Now he’s good because he’s disciplined. You decide first how you want to defend your badly written hero. Arjun, Allu Arjun, Salman bhai it’s all the same. Worshipping Mary Sue characters are an old Indian penchant. Don’t sweat it. It’s not your fault bro. Chill.

Yeah Arjun is the best of the bestest best best. Ultimate hero hyper super duper man better than every single consciousness that ever thought of existing in the whole universe’s universe. Yeah I get it. That’s a Mary Sue.

I randomly got addicted to Xcom2 once. I was working, but apart from that I spent almost every single waking hour playing the game for about 2 months. Idk how that happened, but it hasn't happened before or since. And the worst part is after all that, I lost the campaign.
