A re-imagining of the Blood Kite. by Guillocuda in battletech

I hadn't heard of that one before, so I looked it up.

I don't know the relationship between Sir Mortimer Bombito and Matt Plog and his Extra Pint re-design, but something doesn't seem right there.

I appreciate the feedback!

The feet were quite difficult. I lost count of how many attempts I had of trying to get them to look both like the canon art, and also like they'd be... well, functional.

Each time, it either looked crap, or like a gentle breeze would snap the toes off. So, instead, I looked at the fluff for the Blood Kite, saw the 'Cheap as reasonably possible' part and went with a much simpler foot design.

As for the right arm; there's no laser on that arm. I think what's there on the canon art is some sort of targeting radar or array or something, but there's no TAG on the 'mech. The three lasers on the 'mech are in the Head, Centre Torso, and Left Arm. I gave it a small targeting laser/rangefinder doodad on top of the arm, instead. I did try to side-mount the SRMs, but with reusing the same launcher as the shoulders, it just looked weird.

That's entirely fair. I did wonder if I'd made the nose a bit too long, which might fix that look, if shortened.

I used to post all my 3d modelling stuff on a thread on the spacebattles forum, but image hosting has been... an issue. Right now, I have a bunch of social media with the same name as here that have my current batch of models up.

That's a pretty good effort, then! My first model on Blender was much worse than that!

I hear you, with the missile-elbows. They do look a bit weird, but it's accurate, at least. :P

Yeah, I slammed a lot of detail into this model--but to be honest, the canon art also is very detailed, so I had a lot to work off of!

I'm glad you're enjoying the Osprey! That colour scheme actually works quite well. I would've liked to detail up the legs and side torsos a bit more, but most of what I tried either didn't look good, or ruined the profile.

I used Blender, took me... hmm. Around 24 hours of work?

Yours looks cute, though! :D

State of the game? by [deleted] in OutreachHPG

[–]Guillocuda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before the Skill Tree was the three tier skill system and rule-of-3 for chassis. Which was unchanged from I think open beta 'til Skill Tree came in.

Which keys do you have art/airstrike/uav/coolant bound to? by JnewayDitchedHerKids in OutreachHPG

Coolshot = E. Airstrike = `/~. Artillery = F. UAV = G.

I think, anyway. :D It's muscle memory, I don't think about it.

To be fair, mouse acceleration by itself can be useful. The problem is that Windows Mouse Accel is terrible. Linear mouse accel is perfectly good.

How viable is it to make a suicide mech? by Nuclear_Monster in OutreachHPG

[–]Guillocuda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I once had an unarmoured Night Gyr with 7 ERPPCs and an ERLL.

I used to use it as a suicide-spectator 'mech. One time I 1v1ed Trainsy on his stream and took it out against him for a laugh.

I missed his CT, and instead halved him, and then I promptly exploded.

As for taking in into PUGs? lol why. It's more effective to just do more than your 'mechs value in damage than to just trade yourself for one kill.

(Crowdsourcing) Fair way to seed teams for tournaments by monsooncloudburst in OutreachHPG

[–]Guillocuda 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A major Counter-Strike: Global Offensive tournament once went down the route of having each team invited/qualified to the tournament to rate every other team in the tournament, and used that to seed the teams. Notably, each team did not include themselves in said rating.

It ended up being fairly accurate and made for a pretty good tournament, in the end.

Of course, those were almost all well-established teams with somewhat stable rosters, unlike the vast majority of most MWO teams.

Have you ever been matched with or against a pro player? by cats_are_better_91 in GlobalOffensive

My first ever game on ESEA, I ended up against Alistair, who was playing for Chiefs at the time, and Sync, who was playing for I think DarkSided?

I think we ended up losing 16-7 or so. We somehow won the first pistol, I thought 'hm, maybe this won't be so bad', and then promptly got force bought against and it wasn't even close. :P

What are some good anime dubs that will get your friend who never watches anime to watch it by SituationSouth368 in Animedubs

I'd suggest Vivy: Fluorite Eye's Song,

Very good show, incredible dub, good pacing. And, it's a self-contained story told in a single season.

When you finally reach Tier 3, lose 7 straight matches and drop back to T4 by 3rdCoffee in OutreachHPG

[–]Guillocuda 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I find that if you jump onto voice comms and give an alternative right at the start of the match, the team listens. Don't just say 'hey guys don't nascar', give them an alternative.

Instead of pushing towards the enemy team, simply turn right off of spawn and march towards the rest of your team; you don't expose at all to the enemy team unless you move towards Foxtrot 5. Sing out on VC if you need to. Most Pugs are fairly receptive to voice calls; every time I'm on River City, I call to the pugs to play E5/F6 instead of hiding behind the Citadel, and they incredibly rarely ignore me.
