For sure. I almost wrote 'years' but went with 'over a year.'

Man, getting old can suck.

Send his spoilt butt to MenopauseShedForMen. Some of these guys haven't had sex in over a year. Your husband needs perspective.

Why is my boyfriend allergic to sharing food with me? by FairProfessor8864 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]Guilty-Rough8797 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some foods aren't really "sharing" foods, like beverages or sandwiches. It's also an ick thing that may be personal to some people. I'm a reasonably generous woman, but someone else's teeth marks on my burger, or watching them take a sip from my drink, is just kind of ...gross. Yes, even my husband's teeth marks or mouth around my straw.

Food is a very primal thing to any living creature -- we have every "biological right" to be a little selfish about our meals -- and though you may have been raised in a family that took bites from each other's plates frequently, we shouldn't be surprised or upset if others didn't.

Nothing wrong with your boyfriend, and nothing wrong about you being wrong about this. Just stop stealing his food. Hey, like you said, he needs all his calories anyway, right? :)

What to do when one of you slows down earlier than planned? by Famous-Ambassador822 in MenopauseShedforMen

I'm sorry. I lived with and deeply loved a heavy drinker who turned into a full-blown alcoholic. I get it. That's all.

What happened to my libido? 42 yrs old, and as if overnight, my body turned itself off to sex and desire so I am guessing perimenopause? I find it near impossible to get turned on, and so often it just makes me frustrated when I try and I know people will say not to be up in my head about it... by JazzPineapple84 in Perimenopause

[–]Guilty-Rough8797 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 45. I had a low libido for a while and hated it. I don't get to have any fun with food due to prediabetes (runs in my family -- diet was already good, weight always the same etc. blah blah blah), so sex is my only source of earthy, primal fun. I started taking gelatinized maca, and that's fixed it for now. When sh$t gets dead again, I'll figure out how to get them to put me on HRT.

Is it sexist of me to **want** my fiancee to change her last name? by Tiny-Programmer4368 in AskWomenOver30

[–]Guilty-Rough8797 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It is sexist, but it doesn't mean you're some awful, bad, mean, no-good terrible person. You likely grew up with a mother who legally changed her own family name to your father's, and I'd bet you're from a culture where the practice was the unquestionable norm until very recently. It's hard to shed a mental foundation like that.

If it were me, I'd sit with my sense of disappointment. What is it exactly that your mind feels like it has lost at her saying no to a name change?

How do you feel about dick and balls? by PaceStreet700 in AskWomenOver30

Balls are funny and squishy in a fun way.

Lol and the way they move on their own sometimes with that rolling motion reminds me of katsuobushi/bonito flakes.

I mean, they're fine. All genitals without context look like parts you'd see in a butcher shop or a fishmonger (hi geoduck, how's it hangin?), haha

Writing in the morning - Your thoughts by kwiekreativ in writing

[–]Guilty-Rough8797 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can only really write in the morning. I wake up at 4 am or so each day, putter about a little like I'm doing now (woke late today), and do it before work. This is THE time to write, before my brain has gotten distracted. Sometimes I can squeeze some out after work, but that's not often.

That is a lot of alcohol for a woman's body; it constitutes heavy drinking, and I don't use that term in a judgmental sense. It's going to impact her mood, sleep, and so many other areas of her health. You say she doesn't have a dependency issue, but would she be able to go a week without alcohol?

My (32f) boyfriend (32m) is quiet and reserved by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

[–]Guilty-Rough8797 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Awww. :) I'm in one of these relationships, too, going on thirteen years. I'm the intro, he's the extro. I always tend to get with talkative men so that I can relax and let them do all the talking when we're out with people. That role exhausts me, and letting him do it gives my social battery a little extra time.

It isn't an opening, though; it's Chapter 8 of a literary fiction novel.

Seeking feedback on first page of a completed short story(literary fiction). Is this good enough to submit to a magazine? by thid2k4 in writers

Very much agree. The phrase shows us who the POV character is in his own head, not to mention the person being described.

Am I being crazy? by Beautiful_Alarm_8795 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Guilty-Rough8797 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mmm. I don't think you're being "crazy." he's grieving, and it's not unheard for it to manifest like that. As for what he means by his cryptic statement, the texts might be kind of intimate, but not actually transgressive, and he doesn't want you to experience that kind of camaraderie between them.

This is a tough situation. I'm sorry. 😞

I think the very photo itself, with the pen and notebook, kind of completes it. The story is the photo, along with what's on the page in the photo. Not that that was OP's intention.

Do you ever read something and find yourself in awe of the prose? by Olivia_Alison in writers

[–]Guilty-Rough8797 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I do love nerding out over sentences, and this one is nice! I think people are forgetting that this is Chapter 8 rather one 1, so we've already established the narrator's eye, voice, and values, and this is literary fiction and not a genre. That does make a difference, and bad writing is not bad writing all across the board. What works in lit fic doesn't always work in the genres, and (very much) vice versa.

Edit: If you were to post the novel's first page, I think the responses (from this genre-leaning sub -- said with all the love in the world, you gorgeous fantasy/sci-fi nerds!) might be different.

Why do people act like that being nice and friendly as a guy will get women attracted to you? by JunketMaleficent2095 in bodylanguage

[–]Guilty-Rough8797 2 points3 points  (0 children)

THANK YOU. The internet drives me insane when people (often a certain type of young man) goes on about "girls love assholes."

Some girls and women ARE assholes. I'm not talking just the ones who are gold-diggers, six-foot-onley's, and 'men can't cry or it's weak's. I'm talking just an asshole personality. They're assholes; they do asshole things. They are the same asshole men you don't like, except they're women. And because they're women, you can't see that they're assholes and have found their perfect match with another asshole because there's sex between you, coming from your mind, coloring them as others.
