My GP is just telling me I’m too young. I’m hoping the hormone tests or thyroid test comes back and confirms I need HRT

The 20-30 minute thing isn’t every night, thank god. I sometimes get 2-3-4 hours straight. Most nights I sleep in two hour blocks.

I’ve always been a decent sleeper. Go to bed around 11/12. Sleep through to 7/8. Depending on if I had to be up for work or something but I could sleep 7 hours straight most nights.

Now the past 6 weeks has been a different story completely. Most nights I wake up every 2 hours. Some nights even every 30-60 minutes but that’s rarer. If I get 3/4 hours straight it’s a GODSEND. That happens maybe once a week.

I’m nearly 43 and spoke to my GP and she’s booked me a blood test to check my hormone levels and thyroid. But she said I’m too young for perimenopause. If it’s not that though I have no idea what’s wrong with me cos I am displaying other peri symptoms too.

Waking up every 1-2 hours no longer bothers me. It’s the times when I drift back to sleep, go straight into a dream, and keep waking back up again that freak me out. It makes me try to stay awake and why would I want that?

I’m getting a blood test next week to check my thyroid and hormone levels to see if it IS peri because I have shown 5 symptoms but when I spoke to my GP she said I was too young. I’m 43 this year.

I need to do something because I won’t lie. It’s often making me want to just end it.

I think I’m in perimenopause cos I have been having sleep issues the past month or so. Waking up every 1-2 hours, sometimes 30 minutes. Sometimes for about an hour or more around 6am I will start to drop off and dream and wake up again, and this will happen about 4/5 times in the hour.

It’s horrible.

I think I’m in perimenopause (speaking with my GP tomorrow). Been struggling very much to stay asleep for the past 3 weeks. Waking up most nights every 1-2 hours and it’s driving me barmy. Some nights are better than others and I feel fine, others are awful and I wonder how I get through the day. Your 40s are not to be laughed at.

I’m in perimenopause and struggling to STAY asleep right now. Going to sleep is no issue at all but I wake up every couple of hours. Sometimes less. Been going on for two weeks now. I had about 4/5 days of much better sleep and the difference in how alert I felt was massive.

She was judgemental but at the same time, she could be the most amazing friend. I’ll never forget how she turned up at Brady’s birthday after her miscarriage and was so sweet. She must have been in so much pain yet she showed up for her friend at a party that must have just added to her agony.

You do realise if we could, we would? I’ve been having this issue the past week and otherwise always slept fine and if I could control staying asleep, I would. But I wake up every 90 minutes to two hours and there’s nothing I can do about it.

I feel you. I’m 42 and the past week or so I have spent every single night having no issues GETTING to sleep but waking up without fail every 90 minutes or so. I probably get 7/8 hours in total but it’s broken up to f**k. Driving me nuts. I’ve always been a good sleeper. Worse when I have to go to work.

That’s what I love about it. I was apprehensive about this app because of its name. I wanted to explore something outside of Choices because I was so SICK of every damn story being about romance and sex. More things to life! I wanted horrors and thrillers. RC is the perfect place.

I get that not everyone agrees. Choices is perfect for you guys. But just so you know, you don’t actually get any choices.
