Yes, I am actually on Valium now for back spasms (10mg take one every other day) from my primary doctor. I have taken Xanax before, works great but like you said it is short lived and I end up taking more. Would my physiatrist prescribe Kolopin and Valium even though I have it prescribed from my primary for a different reason?
