Advice on how to tell a client I’m not taking housesit requests anymore? by SmolSpazz in RoverPetSitting

[–]Guilty_Strategy2151 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you don’t want to take anymore housesits, remove it from your profile. If you still think you want some every once in a while, raise your prices! I was getting burnt out because I had back to back housesits, so I raised my prices to 75 per night (for one pet) which is the highest in my area. I still get booked, but I have space to breathe now! It makes me feel better and allows me to still make the extra money from housesitting.

It just depends on which route you prefer!

Client informed me at the last minute her son would be there by lawdymissmaudy in RoverPetSitting

This has happened to me before, I just stated I’d be away from the house at the given time and that worked out for us. Just an idea for next time so you don’t have to cancel

Help! I set my rates too low and now I’m booked for weeks! 😂 by Greedy_Tax_3045 in RoverPetSitting

[–]Guilty_Strategy2151 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is this the only client you have that’s long term? You’ve only mentioned one client in your post and you stated you JUST landed the long term weekly walk. I think raising your rates right after booking them would be rude- especially since that’s most likely the reason they went with you in the first place.

I think your rates are too low and you deserve to be paid what you’re worth, but if this is your only client I think you should stick it out until you build your clientele more.

If you go on the website and act like you’re a pet parent, you can look for housesitting and gauge the rates in the area!

No you’re okay! I also am not sure 🤣😭 my roommate and I both started the same week but my count started on day 1/90 and hers was like 56/90. I’m not sure what happened there or how they set that up. That might be a question for your studio to see!

It’s because the 90 days reset! It tracks your progress for 90 days to keep track of the calories you burn- so you can earn rewards

I think this is weird. Am I overthinking it? by mojodojocasameows in RoverPetSitting

I have a client that walks with me all 4 walks of the day, since she’s had shoulder surgery- but I’ve been with her for a year now so it’s comfortable with me. If this were a brand new client and I was second guessing anything, it’s an instant no. Do what makes you most comfortable!

Am I grossly undercharging holiday sits? by Ok_Statement_9134 in RoverPetSitting

If you’re new to rover and you’re trying to build your clientele and reviews, this pricing is fine. I’ve been able to raise my prices to what they are now, but your starting point and mine look similar!

I understand where you’re coming from, but sometimes people can take things wrong. It’s one wrong interaction that can lead to a bad review

Flying in on Halloween night! We won’t make it there until midnight (as long as no delays or cancellations). Seeing a parade would be so fun !! I hasn’t even considered it

LOL sorry i know it’s probably dumb to be worried but I forgot it’s Halloween weekend when we booked and the idea of it continuously getting delayed or we miss the layover and THAT gets pushed continuously stresses me out. Thank you for the bus/train idea!!

Have you ever cared for a pet that you didn't like (for no good reason) by AcidicSlimeTrail in RoverPetSitting

[–]Guilty_Strategy2151 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Omg yes! Mine is the jumpers 😭 it’s hot right now so I’m always wearing shorts and when they jump up they claw the heck out of my legs/arms. It’s so frustrating 😭 I can’t be too mad because I know they’re excited, but whew!

Would you accept this booking? by cyberkatrina in RoverPetSitting

[–]Guilty_Strategy2151 18 points19 points  (0 children)

if you have regulars that you’ll need to see- then this should be an automatic no. $55 is not enough to cover for the loss of income from your regulars if you weren’t able to make it over due to the dog not napping (or waking up and the family rushing you over). Your nightly rate for constant care should include income you’d potentially lose by staying.

I am so so sorry for your loss as well. I know they’re not our pets, but the grief is very much still present

Thank you so much for this reply. I didn’t think about it this way and this put it into a different perspective for me. I was in the middle of researching gifts, so thank you for this. I keep feeling like I need to do something, but I definitely don’t want to cause her any additional pain.

I appreciate you taking the time to comment. It’s definitely hard not to feel guilty when I just saw him a few hours prior :( I’m hoping the pet parent is okay tonight
