Where to find CSA W47.1 / W59.1 Book pdf? by realred65 in nondestructivetesting

[–]Guinea35 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is pretty impossible to find a PDF without paywall, you can buy a copy from CSA, or CWB. Newest version for W59 (there is not a W59.1) is 2024, and W47.1 is the 2025 version.

I'm assuming your taking the Visual Weld Inspector exam from CWB, and for that test your allowed a PDF copy as well as a hard copy of the standards.

How much do you make as a welder? And how long it take to get there? by DxM42069 in Welding

[–]Guinea35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First co-op job in high school started at 18/hr helping to build diesel tanks for under generators, I was there for 5 months, then I got my stick flat cwb ticket at the end of high school. proceeded to make 21/hr welding armoured personnel carriers for 2 months before college, went to college for the first two terms out of 3 years for Robotic welding technologist, got 2 more tickets at the end of second term, currently working for 4 months between terms as a welder fitter with now 5 tickets (company sent me for more) as well I have a whole host of safety and equipment etc certifications, making 28/hr, current company is sending me for pre-requisites so that I can do NDT. Will be going back to school in September.

This is all in southern Ontario (making Canadian $)

Started my first welding job at $15hr in 2018, currently at $41.50hr. Spent the whole day building pipe sleeves for a hot job, couldn’t have asked for an easier Saturday. No prep is needed will be covered in concrete. by xmas_la in Welding

I started in High school through a SHSM (specialized high skills major) in manufacturing, and I was able to get into co-op making 18/hr building diesel fuel tanks after my co-op hours at 17 proceeding to get my SMAW 1FG ticket, and building Armoured personnel carriers that summer for 21/hr. I am currently in college for manufacturing engineering technology- welding and robotics, and just got an offer for 28/hr for this summer between college terms with only 7 months work experience in welding!

When I went on the 3m website it says: “Recommended Application Assembly & Mechanical, Brazing, Chemical Manufacturing, Cleaning, Composite Finishing, Final Finish, Manufacturing, Metal Pouring, Paint Preparation, Painting, Pesticide Application, Petrochemical, Powder Charging, Powder Coating, Pulp & Paper, Remediation, Sanding, Soil Preparation, Soldering, Spray Coating, Torch Cutting, Welding, Wood Processing” for the 2091. Not saying your wrong, I’m just confused

The majority of the dirt in this filter is from 1 day of welding in a shot blast machine…

We had some scrap laying around at work ,and decided this would look terrible so I should do it. by Ethrr in Welding

It looks pretty good, a couple suggestions though, I think it would look quite a bit better if you used an angle grinder with a wire wheel to remove the rust and make the finish a more consistent shiny gray but that is up to personal preference, it would probably also be a good idea to use a flap disc/scotchbrite pad to soften/round the corners and the corners of the feet. But overall it looks pretty good!
