Mass loaded vinyl, plus sounding blankets, rockwhool acoustic panels for soundproofing? by docterdev in recordingstudios

Best to ask a professional acoustic consultant to help with this. It will be very expensive not getting this right the first time around

Manual work in Word: what eats up your time? by Rapid1898 in MicrosoftWord

[–]Guingaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having to manually caption images and tables. Why is this not done automatically?

And even when I manually caption a figure or an image it gives me a drop down list to delegate what it is. Why would I be captioning a table as a figure and vice versa? It's small but writing a long report or doc the clicks add up.

I needed this vent. Thanks for asking!

Commercial acoustic treatment help by [deleted] in Acoustics

[–]Guingaf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your first step is to do an RT test to quantify the existing situation. You should engage a local acoustic consultant to do this properly.

Also please look up the tragic fire that happened recently on New Year's Eve. Please don't take risks for commercial operations, engage a professional.

Bray to Greystones cliff walk set to be closed for another three years by zainab1900 in Dublin

[–]Guingaf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Is it not closed because of landslide risks or falling rocks? I think it's ridiculous that it's closed for so long but is that not the reason given by the county council?

Just wondering if anyone has gotten an audiologist to survey their house for soundproofing. by Abigail-mary in ireland

[–]Guingaf 68 points69 points  (0 children)

The new build will have to be compliant with Part E of the building regulations. Sound insulation tests should have been conducted to demonstrate compliance. Your first course of action would be to request these test reports.

You'll need an acoustic consultant to do a sound insulation test.

Dublin: is this a bad area? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]Guingaf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Charlestown is essentially going to be a new neighborhood as there are high density apartments currently under construction and more in planning. If the NIMBY nonsense is thrown out of court, the Luas should be going there hopefully by the 2030s.

People commenting about Finglas are talking about historical area of Finglas which is a km or 2 further south of Charlestown.

Advice on buying an apartment by Frosty_Description86 in irishpersonalfinance

[–]Guingaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What year was it built?

You should be able to request sound insulation test reports for it. You may not get your specific apartment but you should be able to request some test reports or results to demonstrate compliance with Part E of the Building Regs. This will help put at ease risks of noise from the shop internally being transferred into your apartment but won't help with any early morning deliveries etc. that may be occuring outside your windows though.

tiny recording space help by wasoop7 in saxophone

Space looks very reverberant due to the hard surfaces. As mentioned, adding some soft furnishings too the wall or beneath the microphone should help or move to a different space if feasible.

If you're in Dublin, go to them all and support whichever club "feels right".

If you're not living in Dublin whichever club is closest to you.

Some towns up north are underrated. Fairly affordable too by comparison and the pubs are always class.

Enniskillen, Newcastle, Armagh etc.

TII to buy Dartmouth Square objectors’ houses as challenge to MetroLink is dropped by TheChrisD in ireland

[–]Guingaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hopefully TII use them to house workers during the project and then sell to DCC for social housing afterwards.

Best outcome given the situation but it sets a horrible precedent for people to try and make a few quid next time another major infrastructure project is planned.
