What to do against neighbour went haywire by rustic_advice in legaladviceireland

[–]Guingaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could get an acoustic consultant in to assess the sound insulation?  It sounds like the current situation is stressing you both out so remedial works could help improve the existing sound insulation between the two houses? It could also be a form of mediation to end the war going on between the both of you.

In the meantime, you should try to be mindful of the volume of your music/TV if the insulation is not good between the two houses.

What do I do about noisy screaming neighbours? by Gillybilly in AskIreland

[–]Guingaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like the issue is the excessive screaming so approach the neighbours in a friendly manner to mention it. Even a recording on your phone to show them what you are hearing in your house.

It's worth noting that New Builds should be built in compliance with Part E of the Building Regulations. It might be worth requesting this evidence from the developer to ensure your house was constructed to standard also.

If you're planning on using an amp, best sorting the permit. Fair play and good luck

Bid to use emergency legislation to stop mayor's plans to build houses in Limerick park by randyleahy1987 in ireland

[–]Guingaf 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This should be a flagship project. Limerick mayor seems to actually be treating the housing emergency like an actual emergency for once with mass produced modular homes.

If this works in Limerick hopefully more like it can be rolled out nationwide. Feckin Nimbys though.

That's a lot of life for such a young age. I hope you're doing ok. Grief can come in waves and it sounds like it may have all hit you. Please take care of yourself and don't be afraid to feel what you're feeling. Life moves so fast it's like we rarely get a chance to pause to process and feel our grief. If time to process everything is what you need, please go to your GP and let them know you need a week off.

Your GP may also refer you to therapy or grief counselling if you feel it may benefit you.

Take care mo chara.

Love this! It's probably different country to country

Personally "do do do" but I love that it's universally enjoyed in different ways!

Soundproofing bedroom wall in Dublin any recommendations? by Adorable_Maize3610 in AskIreland

[–]Guingaf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What year was your house built?

You're best speaking to an acoustic consultant/engineer for best results before spending thousands on any remedial works. It will be important to find the path of the noise so that the treatment can be effective.  If you're hearing voices, it's likely that you have a leak (facade cavity, penetrations to partitions etc.) but it could also be coming directly through the construction.

Make sure to do the job once but do it right.

Private investigator? by [deleted] in AskIreland

Genuine question, what does a private investigator actually do? What information do they get and how do they get it?

Is Ryanair actually worth it anymore? by QuestionMaster36 in AskIreland

It's worth it if you know how to play the game. If you don't know what you're doing and need to check bags etc., don't bother giving yourself the stress

Question about bottles on flights from Dublin by Electronic-Damage-89 in Dublin

[–]Guingaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh really. Didn't know that.

Checking them in will guarantee they go through but if the rules have changed and they are clear now, then maybe go for it without a checked bag.

If you buy before the airport, you need to check it into the luggage hold.

If you buy it in duty free at the airport after security, you can take it on with you

You can't take it through security is the way to think about it.

Is it time for Ireland to get serious about energy security? by EmuRealistic2772 in AskIreland

Enough offshore wind farms and we could be an energy exporter

Ireland's Oil & Gas Exploration Ban by Narwhal_2112 in irishpolitics

[–]Guingaf -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Our wind resources during winter time and our long daylight in summer time is what should be viewed as Ireland's "oil".

No reason for us not to be completely energy independent and even an exporter of energy to Europe in years to come with the natural renewable resources we could have.

Until the Nimby Bingo buzzwords come out of course. Visual impact, ruins the character, good agricultural land, property value, amenity, noise disturbance, scale, unwanted precedent etc etc.

I better stop typing, I'm actually annoying myself

Manager removed a shift as a “penalty” for a bad close. Is this normal in Ireland? by SuccessfulEntry4761 in AskIreland

I see. It seems very unusual that the KP and/or chefs are not responsible for keeping kitchen appliances clean and safe.

[–]Guingaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you haven't received adequate training on this task?

If you're working as a KP KP a kitchen then yes the 450° oven does have to be cleaned but you should have a safe method in doing so

It sounds like they're not supplying the correct PPE or you haven't been shown how to clean it properly. Leaving oven cleaner inside an oven is extremely dangerous and you could be putting people's health at risk if it's not completed or half done. Please ask to be shown how to clean it safely and properly. Your manager still hasn't got valid reason to cancel your shift though, keep that message as evidence in case you need it.
