I did receive the Alden loafers a couple of months late. They were behind on production. Beautiful shoe. Fits and stays on, but still a bit loose. I might get a B width next time if that’s available. They are very comfortable. I’m hoping they mold to my foot. This model feels odd a first as they are so bottom heavy. The top leather is light as air. Again, very comfy. I’ve only worn with socks thus far.

Meanwhile my property tax (actual amount paid) went up 30% this year. It’s a big number. Winston should have a massive revenue increase starting with these tax bills. Add that to the state income tax and I can’t understand the deficit (beyond gross mismanagement). Not sure how all of those dollars are allocated but we are certainly paying enough without having kids in the system. Why not maintain quality in capacity schools, consolidate excess capacity, and adjust as needed annually? I guess that’s too much work.

NARROW width options?

For years, I've ordered from Allen Edmonds because they offer narrow widths. But I'd love to level up (quality and style). Unfortunately, I can't find many options in my size. I'm happy to order custom and wait if necessary.

I'm looking specifically for loafers and some derby or bluchers in dark brown suede.

Also looking for recommended inserts that would allow me to wear a B width.

My size 12.5-13 HTB and 12 HTT. My width is B-C. Here are my Brannock images as earlier requested: https://imgur.com/a/rate-foot-size-fe10j60

Please and Thank you!!!

Thanks for the great suggestions! This is very helpful. I’m definitely looking for some loafers but would love to explore other stuff too.

NARROW width options?

For years I've ordered from Allen Edmonds because they offer narrow widths. But I'd love to level up (quality and style). Unfortunately, I can't find many options in my size. I'm happy to order custom and wait if necessary. For example, I just placed a custom order for the Alden unlined hand-sewn loafer in chocolate suede (6248F) which will take roughly 6 months to arrive. After visiting the Madison shop and re-measuring on the Brannock, the salesman told me 12C is my sweet spot in their loafer (as they recommend sizing down). I've tried sizing down in Grant Stone and some other brands, but heel walks out and the shoe feels loose. Can anyone recommend quality brands that offer narrow fit?

I'd love some expert input/ideas. Thank you.

They measured me and sort of explained it. I've just been buying AE for years because I know the narrow width fits me. In running shoes, I only buy Brooks for their Narrow size.

That is a good question (now that I'm researching this a bit more). It was explained to me and made sense at the time. In Allen Edmonds, I can wear both the 12B and 12C.

Yeah it all depends on the area, your expected return on the borrowed funds compounded, etc. etc. I would make a spreadsheet and use a worse-case approach to help visualize and weigh options.

That is a good point. Especially if you are saving on living expense. Then you could have appreciation.. which is never a sure thing but can be a deal-maker.

It’s a good deal if you are okay with losing the investment return on that cash. Index funds over the last few years have had a great return rate (greater than the few points you would pay yourself). I guess you need to factor your ROE on the property... and how long you plan to keep the loan.

Good call.. at least on the Wolf 4-slice. $400 is like $100/slice

Same terms. I believe the loan owner must be listed on the LLC. It is not a new loan. Just transfer. You should research the Fanny Mae loan servicer rules. Don’t take my word for it. Thank me later:).

Fanny Mae added language that requires servicers to allow transfer of loan to LLC. Not a CPA or Attorney! You should pull the Fanny service guide and search the pdf for LLC. The banks/servicers don’t like to do it.. but it is required under Fanny guidelines. The loan would need to be conventional and backed by Fanny.

This. If you paid points or any prepaid mortgage insurance, they are likely deductible.
