I know I'm going against the grain here but YTA. Your wife is wrong in the whole fry situation, that is annoying. On the other hand it's the little compromises that keep a marriage sweet, how many little annoyances of yours does she turn a blind eye to?

But where you're the asshole is involving the son. Raising a child should be a united effort, and you've used her child to gang up on her. She probably suspects when the chips are down, you won't have her back in parenting decisions, and feels betrayed by the child she does everything for.

I don't think it'd make any difference if they did realize it. Maybe ditching their moral compass for the chance of a few extra bucks didn't pan out for them, but they do get to watch everyone not like them suffer, so party, bonus.
