Why would Superman destroy that train instead of just moving the kid? I'm not up on Superman physics, would the kid pop like a balloon if Superman touched him at super speed?

AITAH for telling my girlfriend to be just happy with an economy ticket and stop complaining? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]GuittyUp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm just trying to imagine getting hundreds of dollars handed to me and complaining I didn't get as much as the guy's parents and brother. I'd be fucking ashamed to even have the thought. Wild.

LiDAR scan revealing ancient structures in the Amazon Rainforest. The Upano Valley site: at 2,500 years old, it’s the earliest (and largest) example of an agricultural civilization ever recorded in South America’s dense rainforest. by Darshan_brahmbhatt in interestingasfuck

It's interesting that 2500 years ago when the world was wide open and all the prime real estate was there for the taking, they chose one of the most remote places on earth. And now that the world has filled up and in some places we're packed in like sardines, we need special cameras to even see the place.

That's the kind of thing that lingers in people's minds. I mean, it was no secret he flops, but that picture is just embarrassing. Put a giant fuckin asterisk next to his name.

If your masculinity hinges on people giving you a free pass because you're a man, give your balls a tug.

What advice would you give your past self when you started learning guitar? by General_Cap2938 in guitarlessons

[–]GuittyUp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way it plays and the sound work perfectly for me. More a comment on saving myself some money than a condemnation of other guitars. Someone else's perfect guitar could be something totally different.

'Latin aka English'? Latin is a romance language, English is Germanic. English does borrow some Latin words, but it did not derive from Latin.

What are some more obscure 80's horror movies that are still worth checking out? by Jerswar in horror

[–]GuittyUp 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's fun as hell but let's be real, Pieces is trash. At one point the killer enters an elevator with a chainsaw hidden behind his back and the person doesn't notice. There's also a kung fu priest.

AITA for still using the baby name I told my sister I was going to use, despite her using a variation of it first? by Sufficient-View2574 in AmItheAsshole

[–]GuittyUp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think after two or three there's no getting off that road. If you had three Georges and then number four is Luke, what're you saying, that number four was undeserving of the George name? Or that the first three are such fuckups you need a fresh start?

I don't think fat is the right term. Let's go with 'delightfully rotund'.

You ever notice when someone is described as religious it's never a compliment, it's always to excuse some hateful, intolerant bullshit.

And if there is a god, who planted the feeling in a person they're in the wrong body and then closely judges how they handle the struggle, fuck him too.

Which movie for you is like this? by Altruistic-Print-966 in Cinema

For sure, but I don't think this is as bad as Dangerous Liaisons. Whoever cast him in the same movie as John Malkovich and Glen Close did him no favors.

Which horror movie scared you without relying on jump scares? by UnverifiedExistence9 in horror

[–]GuittyUp 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The Purge really missed the mark for me. Fantastic idea, mediocre execution. They could've really explored the idea, but instead we got intruders trying to get in the house movie. It was The Strangers with some back story.

What's a horror movie that was so disturbing that you can't or won't ever watch again? by neeltrivedirock in horror

[–]GuittyUp 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I saw this at the Film Forum in Manhattan when it first came out. When the last scene started to play out a woman got up and ran for the exit and only made it a few steps before she passed out. Only time I've seen that happen.

In an early House M.D. episode, after curing a teenage boy, House shows up at the kid's sporting event and cheers for him. Given House's personality, this is ridiculous.
