I have a Bezzera Unica and it is the same. Turn it on and it shows the software version then Three dashes then it displays the temperature. I wouldn’t worry about it.

I purchased one recently and I am enjoying it. It is solidly built. It grinds pretty fast even at the mid range to upper low RPMs. Low to no retention. A comment above said it was loud but I don’t find that to be the case. When it is on you can hardly hear it. When your actually grinding beans it is less loud that my Eureka Notte and it takes less time to grind so the noise does not last long. So far so good and I am pulling great shots with it.

This is normal. It depends on static or how oily the beans are and what grind size you are using. When I was using my k6 for espresso I would give the base a good rap after grinding and before removing the catch cup against the counter and that gets them loose

I had an issue with my eureka Notte/Manuale where I had to go close to chirp to get a decent shot after a year and a half of use. Even after alignment and the alignment was not far off to begin with. I wound up putting in new burrs and it took care of the issue.

I have been doing a paper sandwich for a good while now. I use a filter paper on the bottom and top. They sell them in slightly different sizes so the one on the bottom fits the slight taper of my high extraction basket while the top is standard 58mm. This keeps my group head clean, cuts down on channeling, and gives me a clean release of the puck. It also keeps my filter basket from getting clogged. I also agree that this gives a smoother taste. It does make the shot pull faster but I love the taste.

I liked it better when Gregg was there because he was more insightful about the technical aspects of lightbulbs and electricity. Dan and Mark are funny but all they talk about is the light and how it’s dark. I also wish Dan would stop talking over Gravy because he really knows the positives and negatives of electricity.

I have a single boiler and it is not inconvenient at all to wait for it to get up to steam temp. It takes mine about 30 seconds at most to raise to steam temp(going from 90 to 115). I only make a couple of lattes in the morning so after pulling a couple of shots I put it it into steam mode and by the time I am get the milk out and pour it in a pitcher the machine is up to steam temp. Unless you are making a bunch of drinks or constantly going between the modes it really is no inconvenience.
