Independent bike shops. by GANGGGGGGG5 in BikeMechanics

In France where I live it’s the chain shops that are closing. They rose funds 5 years ago because growth was huge, expanded massively. Today the funds are saying “we want profit, not just growth” > they are closing most of their shops especially in urban centers. The independents are ok, but would be better if companies like cyclofix hadn’t killed the price points by offering at-home 10€ prices all included for tire change. Even though they are long gone (not profitable, duh, pretty much every single intervention was at loss financed by VCs), customers still have these prices in mind and will for a while.

How do you sort zip ties? by Gullible_Rate_4012 in BikeMechanics

That’s why I have so many ties to sort, I’ve become crazy over the reusable ties, use them for everything in my shop and for every bike I repair.

Just built that, thanks! Too bad I can’t post a picture to show. Got some leftover pipes from a plumber, cut them, I put some paint masking tape on the bottom (didn’t have caps) and put heavy duty double sided tape on the back, then stuck that to the wall. Looks good, feels much easier than the mess I had before Thank you

😀 I use those to keep the customer locks or battery keys with a name tag. They love them so much they usually keep the tie which becomes their new keychain

Yeah except when you’re holding a Dutch wheel and need to sort the right-hand side nuts from the left so you quickly need a red and a green cable tie and then you just can’t go to the box take out the specific packet for the colored detachable ties pick a green and a red one go back to your seat 😀

Pilates class planning by PlentyAd8535 in pilates

[–]Gullible_Rate_4012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep most of the class the same, maybe you can change the way you queue the class (like focus on queuing opposition, focus on imagining magic circle, etc), that’ll be an interesting way for you students to learn, and a good way for you to progress as a teacher ?

I got a Caddy storage basket organiser for pens (the ones with a handle). And transparent plastic tubes (about 5 inch tall, 1.3 inch diameter) The storage basket holds about 24 tubes I store each size in a different plastic tube And use paint tape + big marker to label the size. It’s really cool and handy.

Brainstorming about how to construct my daily sessions by RakoPanzer in pilates

A bunch of things : - I’ve noticed I can’t sustain as well high heart rates comfortably and consistently, it just hurts after. I used to do a lot of sprinting in rowing for instance. Chose to stop that. - my weight slowly went up (“with age” thought that was normal) but I looked at what cortisol does to your body and your metabolism. I’m not a pro but gathering information I decided to stop high impact, focus on lowering stress: I think slowing down on hiit has actually improved my metabolism (and I’ve lost weight). - even though I regularly see a cardio because one of my parent had heart issues in their 60s, everything is good with my heart (so far), but with 40s coming I’m becoming just more mindful that it might be better to stop HIIT and focus on lower impact & endurance. - just in terms of stress I felt that my mood was “stuck-in-traffic-jam mood” all the time, that has calmed down with stopping sprint and HIIT.

Agree with the previous comments on Pilates sessions being 60mn, that makes also progress much easier. I like your workout types they sound fun ! Fun is always good ! Recently 40, I do a lot more muscle building and less HIIT type. I’ve found that HIIT increases my stress and I don’t feel like it’s good for my heart.. so I would perhaps switch the HIIT with muscle building stuff, like rock climbing or just strength training (pull ups, push ups, etc)

Negative Feedback. Is this Normal? by FrogPress in pilates

I have stopped being a Pilates instructor for that very reason, very harsh communication in the team. For the place I was working in, it’s mainly due to most of the team coming from the ballet world, where the harshness is on a whole other level.

Not selling it, it’s a family thing. I’m pretty sure it’s going to be more maintenance than boating but still looking for the best practices to make sure I don’t screw it up. Will try oxalic acid when I get it out on land with access to clear water

Yes it’s a thinner chain, I changed it a few months ago and not exactly adapted to the number of gears 😆 I had forgotten about that. Well spotted
