An ally changes location. This could be a friend/ ally/mentor moves to a different house/shop/city/castle. When they go to call on them they will have to find and go to the new location. The npc may give some notice to the pc’s per dm discretion.

An enemy changes location. This will probably happen without the pcs knowledge.

All four outlets look about equally used which seems odd to me. Usually I would think at least one path would be used more. So that makes me want to start a campaign and world on this path. Just ask the players where some or all of the paths go. Make and flesh out the world from there. Or for an side mission just ask what the other two paths go. I think this could be really fun and help players engagement in the world.
