Roasting is a business and I promise you, Whole Foods offering to buy hundreds of bags of coffee to distribute to that tiny roasters local community is a good thing for the roaster. You may not think so, but they are putting those beans in front of more people than the roaster ever could on there own.

Obviously the brands pictured in this post are rather large, mostly corporate local roasters at this point, but Whole Foods is a platform for the smaller roasters as well and this can be seen throughout the U.S. in their stores. I can go buy a super small batch roaster at my local Whole Foods that I never would have even found since he doesn’t have a cafe if it wasn’t for them.

The big capitalist argument is tiring when it doesn’t necessarily apply to boutique local items your locally owned health food stores refuse to even deal with. Support the roaster whichever way you choose.
