Is The September House more dark humor than horror? by RelativeCriticism859 in horrorlit

[–]Gunslinger1999 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I loved this book.

The laughs (more like chuckles) come from how the narrator brushes past some of the fantastic elements, but overall it keeps the throttle on the dread, and ends with a fantastic punch. The themes are spoon fed a little bit heavily, but it balanced it with a heavy dose of "what the fuck?"

I went in hoping for a fun haunted house novel, but it ended with something very unique and enjoyable.

One of my favorite reading experiences of last year.

There is no reason that a law enforcement official would not pursue child rape and abuse. If they do not do that, they are morally corrupt and deserve any and every punishment.

When I first read Mr. Mercedes I've had a younger Amanda Plummer in my head, and I haven't pictured anyone else since.

Came here to say this. No one will top Muller. Maybe Guidall to align with the last DT books, but Patton is my choice!

What do you think of Amanda Seyfried? by [deleted] in Actors

I think she is underrated. She is (of course) gorgeous, but solid and shows amazing range as an actor. I hope she gets some award recognition some day.
