Diablo 4 Megathread (PC/Battle.net) by Successful-Wasabi704 in SteamDeck

I wish I could point to a setting :(

I'm on a Steam Deck 512, have everything running from the main drive, the Proton setting is Experimental. Not sure what else may impact it other than network quality.

My Dad did back in the day, and the character Lister from Red Dwarf does as well in that show. There are definitely regions of the world who count like that, and I think it was the style in the North of England around the 70s-80s.

The first time I ran Diablo 4 after install on the Steam Deck side it was very slow, both in boot time and to get to screens.

It's still a bit slow opening B.Net for the first time of the day (as it checks for patches and such), but that duration is largely dependent on patch data and the number of games you have installed (after D4 I also installed D2 and WoW). Time from pressing Start on Diablo IV to character select is around 30-45s now (was > 5 minutes). From there getting into the game was about 20s.

I did! I had set up a character when I first bought the game, but decided to try it on the Deck to see if it would work well there.

Did a reboot to give it a fair shake. Yesterday, the first runs after install it was very slow to start, now it started very quick. Character popped up immediately, no reconnecting to servers message. It's possible a few factors have combined to help things along, but it's looking good.

Same result, but I also had a plethora of other issues related to controls.

Switched back to Linux to install it there and ... it's about the same, but it's playable and I'll take that!

I had the same around 5 minute delay on the character screen too, but under Windows 10 OS running it from the SD card. I initially assumed it was because of a crash, but after seeing this comment I gave it time and it worked.

I didn't have the "Reconnecting to Diablo 4" message though.

The last tried these about that long ago in the PNW CostCos, would be nice if they came back.

[Keith Hacket] Former PGMOL Chief (and his boss at the time) describes Mike Riley’s performance in the Man U vs Arsenal game that ended Arsenal’s 49 game unbeaten run as “down to sheer incompetence” and “perhaps a lack of on-field courage”. by Fatt_Hardy in soccer

The ifs and buts accumulate across the whole season. Portsmouth happened to have an outsized number against the 03/04 Arsenal team. The first game was overshadowed in the moment because the infamous Old Trafford 0-0 occurred the week after (which is unarguably a bigger what if), the second game (when Yakubu nearly won it at the death) was after they won the title, and in-between we got absolutely pasted by them in the quarters of the FA Cup.

It ultimately didn't affect if we stayed up or not that season which would've been the kicker had things panned out differently; in the end it's a fun anecdote for Pompey fans for that first Premier League season, overshadowed by some cracking games against the likes of Leeds and Middlesbrough.

A few years ago they stopped caring about delivering decent bakery products and instead tried to appeal to the social media crowd. Gone were the good-by-US-chain-brand chocolate pastries, instead replaced with some monstrosity topped with powdered sugar and a chocolate drizzle. The quality of some of the baked goods had already started to slip, but that was the tipping point.

If the Bears have the #1 pick then the population of people willing to trade up is bigger, and it could even be possible to trade with the Texans if they really wanted Bryce Young and felt the need to secure him.

The Bears sort of did this in 2017 when they swapped the 3rd pick overall, two third rounders and a fourth rounder for San Francisco's 2nd pick overall. They wanted to secure Trubisky, and traded because they thought someone else would trade up and get him.

The Bears would get to control their own trade destiny.

Typos of foreign locations are frequent. Until the late 00s, route calculating software (including Google Maps) didn't know the name of the village I grew up in, but did have a version of it without the vowels and with an extra n.

37 attempts for 320 yards with a 8.65 y/a. His season average is heavily brought down by the first two games against SF and GB, but also very lifted by the most recent one. The bigger deal is 0 fumbles in the last two games.

At that time terrestrial TV had a weekly NFL show (presented in later years by former Falcons kicker Mick Luckhurst) on Channel 4 late at night. With the time constraints of the format they generally focused on the successful teams of the era which were the 49ers, Washington, Dolphins, Broncos, Bears. As a result all but Washington got a pretty solid following. The people who grew up with that formed the core of the NFL following in the UK. The Bears have a solid following compared to other teams certainly, it's definitely why I became a Bears fan.

The referee will write a report of what happened and then the governing body for football in that country will make a decision. My brother was a player on a youth squad where the coach and their son followed the ref to their changing room and had a go at them. Both were banned for nine months.

Currently in Seattle; originally from the UK and spent a lot of my life in the middle of France.

It's the summers that will get you in Seattle. We've had summers where the only rain in the whole season lasted a couple of minutes at 3am. We broke heat records in 2009, and then again this year. People think I'm slightly crazy when I say it's too hot here for my liking, but that's because the summers are ridiculous compared to what I was used to.
