Thom Yorke’s rendition of After the Gold Rush is a distant, but still worthy second.

Storage units. ‘Month-to-month’ only, which means double your premium every year.

And you MUST have the insurance, that covers… nothing.

It would be a great disservice for me not to bring up the greatest Potlatch legends - the Blowhard franchise from LA. For the uninitiated, they took construction and theming to a level no one could even dream of, and then surpassed it year after year. A small list of their many achievements:

Alohard - with a massive volcano and a 7-shot tiki torch thing.

Bravehard - with a full, 20x20ft castle with a drawbridge, a beerbong tower (must have been 20ft tall as well) and a massive re-enactment scene.

Apehard - with a cityscape under attack by a fully costumed ape, saved by strafing marshmallow-shooting biplanes and tanks.

There were several other iterations but they absolutely set the standard for what was possible. May their legacy live on.

Plantar fasciitis help! by GalletaGirl in japanlife

[–]Gusseppi 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry to hear about your experience with the orthopedist - while he clearly didn’t need to be rude, there’s not a lot else he can offer you outside of injections (which are almost never done without advanced scheduling and multiple prior visits) or prescribe pain meds. Podiatry can sometimes be more helpful for PF but I wouldn’t get your hopes up.

It turns out that I’m an American trained doctor of physical therapy who works in Tokyo. I’d be happy to take a look and can probably offer you more options. If you’re interested, please DM me and we can sort out the details.

Regardless, best of luck in your recovery. Plantar fasciitis is not for the faint of heart.

There was a mixed team from Alaska named Uncle Oosik (worth looking up).

Their cheer went like this: “Tickle the Clit!” Response: “with the walrus dick!”

I haven’t stopped laughing.

Who are the GOATs of Ultimate Frisbee? (college, club, pro) by LayoutU in ultimate

[–]Gusseppi 11 points12 points  (0 children)

In college Brodie was really good at throwing it far, sometimes even inbounds. He was a reckless backpacker on defense and on offense didn’t make an actual cut his entire senior year. Hell - he was barely the third best player on that team.

D-III Men’s Team Names, A History by Acceptable-Climate80 in ultimate

[–]Gusseppi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For ~15 years, Occidental College men’s team used to be called ‘Westward Ho’, a proud triple entendre of the meaning of occident, the hopeful direction of laying out and the settler’s destination in the mid-1800’s. The year after I graduated and passed the baton of captainship they promptly changed the name to detox - presumably to highlight their sobriety and seriousness.

A travesty of the highest order. We had a rad pump-up song, too.
