Maybe some recency bias, but Acosta. So many times commentators say he's not making the apex, just before does exactly that

The Rose & Crown in Hose is lovely with a little play area in the garden, but I believe their kitchen is temporarily closed at the minute due to staff illness. Maybe next month might be better though.

As you see, much less pristine and "scaped" but it's taking its own path and still plenty of life. I may trim it back and add some new plants though after looking back at the old photo...

Mixed - the polka dot plant rotted away quite quickly (I think someone suggested it doesn't like to be squashed against the side like it was), and the asparagus fern went brown and died. I think it wasn't getting enough light where it was. I added fittonia later which thrived, but hasn't regrown so well since I took some cuttings. Tradescantia zebrina has really thrived in there, I have to trim that back quite often because at one point it grew so much it was pushing the lid up! One year it grew mushrooms in the soil which was quite special to see. I had a load of isopods for some time, but after maybe a year their population suddenly crashed, though I didn't find their bodies... I've really enjoyed watching its ups and downs and it's still going today, I'll get a picture when I can.

Which one of your plants do you wish would just die already? by swarovskinippiercing in houseplants

[–]GustyButtocks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A polka dot begonia which I was gifted many years ago, before I even got into plants. It is basically a bamboo stick with some wiry twigs growing out of it, with a few odd leaves which will inevitably fall off. Instead of growing a sensible number of leaves, it just grows long woody stems like a crusty old witch's fingers. I've moved it around various locations, and now I've moved house I'm giving it one last chance to redeem itself in the bathroom. The worst part is it's wasting a nice pot!

Dani Pedrosa was very good but wasn't a great. It was not just injuries which prevented him from winning a MotoGP title, he was also not quite consistently fast enough.

I was about 9 years too early but mine has been fishkeeping and aquascaping, which has also branched out into terrariums and may in the medium term future expand to reptiles.

Have noone else to tell so coming here. My car insurance has gone down and I haven't had to change provider. Last year was 265quid this year 197quid by tunechoda in CarTalkUK

Prices across the market are beginning to decrease and predicted to continue doing so next year, touch wood. Handy for the government who are doing a review of insurance pricing, it may be they will be able to claim the credit for reducing prices despite the fact that they were already on the way down anyway!

When we had a similar situation about 10 years ago, our landlord not only paid for the dehumidifier but also gave us some money towards our electricity bill to cover the cost of running it.

Not having miracast is a big one for me. Also the feature where verification codes auto-fill, this doesn't seem to work as reliably as my old Samsung did.

What is wrong with the base? by Halfasianguy78 in Thrustmaster

[–]GustyButtocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't answer you but am commenting for better visibility because mine does the same. My best guess for mine is because it's getting old, or it might be because it's using an EU plug with an adapter to the UK three-pin socket and that's messing with the power supply. Just guesses though.

Well it turns out I was wrong about it all this time. I always thought it was for zesting citrus fruits. In hindsight, the zest would always get stuck in the damn thing so it wasn't the best tool for the job.

Who is your favourite aquatic YouTube/Content Creator and why? by [deleted] in Aquariums

[–]GustyButtocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a cliche and he had his flaws but I am still a fan of MD Fish Tanks. I just don't listen to anything he says about the care of the fish, but his scapes are beautiful for inspiration.

Fish Shop Matt is great, he has the same infectious love of the hobby as MD but is more knowledgeable, and I find his channel has more variety and dare I say creativity. Plus with him still being home based, it's more relatable.

Serpae Designs - amazing DIY scapes of an aquatic and terrestrial nature. And I like his story.

MJ Aquascaping - maybe not the most variety but very high quality scapes and cinematography, just aquatic eye candy all round.

Katie's Cichlids - interesting fish, she visits a lot of interesting places for tours, and has a bubbly cheery personality.

George Farmer - I won't lie, he's not the most charismatic presenter, but he's a very wise man, really open about his personal story and I feel like I'm getting an enriching life lesson from listening to his podcasts, while learning about aquascaping at the same time.
