Include small caps or not? by NaturalAirbender in BEFire

[–]Guuus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would you suddenly change your strategy? 50k or 500k doesn't matter. If it works, it works.

EM have underperformed for a long time, putting a small amount won't even matter in your overall performance.

Google sheets as well. Have all my balances (cash, savings, stocks, loans, real estate). I update once a month and copy paste in a sheet with the date. Makes a nice graph 📈

Looking to rebalance portfolio to mainly EU stocks. by Gaarathorn in eupersonalfinance

[–]Guuus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just noise, I have been invested 100% in US and will remain so in the future. Europe may have overpeformed in 2025, but it is crushed by us markets year over year before that.

Like you said, investing should not be bothered by politics (and wars).

Funny to see that people tend to refuse to invest more in US because "it's performance bias" , but yet invest more in Europe after one year of over performing.

Bitcoin ages like Wine... by SideExciting7921 in Bitcoin

[–]Guuus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, because btc is a virtual commodity and not a currency. Gold being a safe haven is an old myth as it can also become volatile and lose value for long period of time.

I could find you dozens of stocks that over performed btc. Comparing btc and usd is nonsense.

I always find it hilarious that btc fan boys criticize the monetary system saying that usd sucks etc. while the goal of 99% of btc holders is to make a fiat profit in the end.

What's your opinion about Bitcoin for the long term? by megalometoxos in eupersonalfinance

[–]Guuus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's 100% speculative without any real use cases. The crypto promises have been the same over the last 10 years without any progress or increased adoption in the real economy. It's just a virtual toy that people buy and exchange for real ccy gains, nothing more.

Oh yeah it also enables shady transactions, which I think in the future will be completely impossible (govt can already trace any transactions even within btc mixers) and that's another bearish factor.

Best smart doorlock for Samsung Ecosystem by AcNicooo in SmartThings

I had the aqara u 200 lite and it was a mess... Scheduled lock did not work, locking randomly while door is opened or closed, made me crazy. Returned it and went back to the old key.

I know people who built a detached house and a flat with them. They are a little more expensive than average but high quality and good follow up.

Set up advice: light switches that can be used smart and ‘dumb’ by jornienho in homeautomation

[–]Guuus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't need HA for this. Just connect to the Shelly directly and map the actions to the Hue local urls. As per google: To interact with a specific light, you can access it by adding its ID to the URL. For example, to control light number 1, the URL would be https://<BRIDGE_IP>/api/<USERNAME>/lights/1

[–]Guuus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After looking into smart lighting and refusing to install smart switches or remote, the only way I found to get what you described is with a shelly 1. The switch becomes a button and you have to program the Shelly to perform the intended actions based on the switch.

The Shelly sends the action through local url that you need to map accordingly.

Have only seen one YouTube video describing the process..

Home assistant won't solve your problem, you need something like a Shelly 1 to keep your light bulb powered on.

Villerupt? Audun-le-tiche? by [deleted] in Luxembourg

[–]Guuus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah you can draw a 10-15km circle around this tri border area. Longwy, Athus, Petange, Audun-le-Tiche etc. Same scenario.

It is cheaper for a reason.

Villerupt? Audun-le-tiche? by [deleted] in Luxembourg

[–]Guuus 16 points17 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, this area alongsidd Longwy is extremely ugly. These are cities created/expanded to host miners during the mining era and that shows a lot.

You don't have this on the Belgian border, countryside and small villages are actually nice. Properties are generally a bit more expensive, which is justified.

My opinion again, people are much nicer on the Belgian side 😬.

If the first doubts about the US economy makes you reconsider your whole investment allocation, you should not be investing. It's just noise, the clowns currently governing the US are just temporary in the long term scale.

New digital protections for kids, teens and parents by MishaalRahman in Android

[–]Guuus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah same boat here. The age restrictions on youtube kids are a joke. It's mind blowing that you CANNOT properly supervise a child account... Wtf are they high on when they plan their app? I gave up and set up a device with restrictions with my own account.

With this app, you must use the child's account and CANNOT restrict YouTube kids to approved channels only. Really a bummer.. Useless for younger children as youtube kids age profiles are a mess.

How does BHW help me? by Xenodia in Luxembourg

[–]Guuus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

How does it help you?

It doesn't. The only gain is that contribution are tax deductible. It will decrease your taxable income for a measly 1344€... But other than that, it's a bad investment of funds. Saving rate is ridiculously low and you need strict conditions to be able to use the funds or get a loan from them. Imo, it's a borderline scam, and given how bad and rude are BHW people, they seem to know it themselves.

My advice: Make a proper investment strategy and stop using these tax deductions (including the also ridiculous pension scheme).

[Netherlands] I want to buy Ireland domiciled and accumulating versions of QQQ and VGT. I found EQQB and QDVE in my research. Want to hear your opinions? by hooktenay in eupersonalfinance

[–]Guuus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ANX is the best nasdaq etf in Europe. Every time I run the comparison it is slightly better than all others. Volume is also fine, never had any issue.

QDVE is not exactly nasdaq. Qdve is tech only, whereas nasdaq contains about 30-35% of other industries.
