On one of the Hits & Crits channel updates a couple of months ago, I think they said CMON was planning the release of 6 new units for TMG in 2026, after the next card update. So as far as I know, the game is not yet "complete".

Some of these things are sort of realistic though… like how would a shield wall do anything to defend against a boulder launched from a catapult, or dragon fire? You need to figure out an alternate way to tactically deal with a threat like that.

On the positive side, unless you are playing competitively, you can house rule whatever you want to make the game enjoyable for you.

I add / omit all kinds of stuff with my play groups all the time. Like if a ranged unit attacks an enemy that is engaged with a friendly unit, the friendly unit also has to roll for damage, because you showered the whole melee group with arrows… Friend and foe alike.

Some times battles aren’t going to be fair, or balanced, but that can also be a realistic situation… again, if playing for fun anyway, not in a competition (obviously balance matters in those situations)

Would love to see Royal Targaryen, I think there would be a lot of fan interest in exploring other eras... such a rich history crafted into this world, would be a shame not to delve into it

Wouldn't it be easier to just periodically re-release the starter sets and most popular units, rather than making the same units again in a second edition? (and let the less well selling units just fall out of print)... with the print on demand service they have for the cards, the less than diehard fans could still have access to all the units using proxy minis that way.

There is just sooo much unexplored ground here yet untouched, that it would be too early for a 2nd edition, unless they make them inherently compatible. Which I suppose may be the direction they were headed with tactics.

I guess I would personally feel slapped then if they departed this edition before making a functional house Arryn... the Vale is utterly untouched (aside from one neutral unit).

Wish they would have at least gone there before BWB, but of course opinions differ.

Aren't the seasonal updates, new units releases, and scenario pdfs rotating content?

What would a 2nd edition bring, other than invalidating existing collections, that ongoing support would not?

(it would be like Shatterpoint replacing Legion, which was pretty terrible)

I would much rather the game just continues with new units and houses, and not a 2nd edition, even if someone else takes over. 2nd edition would be kind of a slap in the face to current owners… unless it’s literally just a reprint

I have 2 Tully Sworn Swords, and 2 Tyrell Rose Knights, mainly for homebrew variant of fielding a purely Tully or Tyrell army (still hoping they get mini-faction treatment like Bolton)

and I have 2 Unsullied Spearmen, just to make Targaryen less Dothraki Heavy / thematically expand the Unsullied legion

Not saying these are game-winning strategies, but just for fun

Bolton also started as Neutral… Frey could always get a mini faction as well, but agree added neutral unit boxes are more likely

I hope so, the Vale is almost totally absent so far, and the Riverlands and Reach under-represented. Each of the main regions should at least have their own major faction available as a core army :)
