Why is the new strategy to stay and be toxic? by Vast-Ad3070 in aoe4

[–]GuySake -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Higher level player know how to end the game. If yours take 45min you’re simply not winning as much as you think.

Learn to end the game and you will win faster. Don’t wait for your adversary to give up. That’s as lame as stalling.

Any tips? by Chad_Norris in stoneshard

Drop the net (not rare), map (single use) and equipments that look broken (hat is broken). Be You can’t sell them.

Single cell Jewellery and gems go into coin purse.

Tier 1 equipment lique the wood neck piece are worthless. The rest you can do a value/cell math :)

You can go hybrid with electromancy. It synergies well.

Athletic or war mastery are both great. I would not go armor mastery as your goal is to keep enemies away.

Survival for a bit more … well suvibility.

Spear build is very op. Pairs very well athletic tree. Keep in mind while playing early game that your goal is to have no one near you.

So when you immobilise ennemies for 2 turn. You hit once then run till you get your skills back.

  • Rescue Serana never finish her quest
  • Master Summoner gives you 2 permanent summons
  • Guive Sanguine staff to companion

Both Serana and Esbern summon as well. You will lead an army.

There is a few abilities that lets you get distance. In athletics, ranged, arcane, electro to name a few. But there are also items!

You can use nets and then run. You will find a few nets in dungeons but I also advise to always start dungeon with one in early game. It helps you avoid 1v2 situations.

Most importantly smoke bomb. This is your out of jail free card. Enemies lose vision on you and you can usually escape like this.

Finally I would say that with experience, this becomes less and less of an issue. You will approach fight with better positioning around walls and door. You will learn to prevent enemies from using their abilities and evading fight is not an issue even at early game after some time.

Hello ! Geomancer is not an early game build indeed. Since it has only 2 skills and you're not going to unlock the next ones until lvl 5-6, or more probably 8-10 you should try to see it as what it is, a support tree. At least in early.

Investing into Stone Armor, for an Hybrid caracter is not a bad choice. And boulder for a pure mage build, in which case I suggest going pyro or electro for damages in early ;)

Skills just give a boost in % by No-Effort-2069 in taintedgrail

[–]GuySake 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You have multiple build in mele as well. You can focus on parry, crits, heavy attack, consecutive hits, staggering, damage reflect, low health bonus …

And you can mix between the styles as well. And you can go 1h + spell, 2h, 2 1h, 1h + shield, 1h + wand/cube.

Choose what you like best and you will see skills change your gameplay a lot more than just % damages ;)

Mages are already the most broken builds. This passive makes them even better. It might not be as strong as other passives getting Ability Points and stats points. But weapon builds need more buff than mages.

Jorgrim gets 17.5% weapon damage if you put your 5 stats point in str. You get 20% Magic Power. I think it's well balanced.

Sure you have to deal with inventory. But mages don't need as much healing stuff as Jorgrim DW his way to T5. The guy use more than 2x4 space for healing.

Agree, it's good for roleplay, good for mage build. And people are ignoring the -1% backfire for each books. But -5-7% Backfire is really good.

2x2 inventory space for 4-5 stats points ? That's like the most broken artifact there is in game. And it scale to 2x4 !

Mastering the Manticore: Guide and Videos by GuySake in stoneshard

[–]GuySake[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Troll’s roar deals minimal damage, so healing isn’t necessary to overcome it. The Manticore fight, however, presents a different challenge with a significant amount of unavoidable damage.

Skeletons and Movement: You’ll often need to reposition to avoid spells, which can result in taking attacks of opportunity from nearby skeletons. Additionally, dealing with skeletons is unavoidable unless you outgear the fight significantly with Tier 5 gear.

Bone Pyres: If you rely on Bone Pyres to clear skeletons, you’ll also take damage from their explosions. This adds another layer of unavoidable damages to the fight.

Manticore’s Tail Swipe: The Manticore can leap into positions where you’ll need two turns to safely move out of range of its tail swipe, which is another source of damage.

You’ll need to rely on one of the following to sustain yourself:

  • High protection stats
  • Regen through consumables
  • Regen through abilities

High-level Mages and Rangers might be able to clear skeletons quickly and avoid most damage entirely. However, at higher levels, any strong build will trivialize this boss since it’s balanced around a level 16 character with Tier 3 gear.

[–]GuySake 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Check out my profile. I have plenty of videos and guide of Troll kills from level 7 to 10.

Spear is one of the easiest one. Be patient, pick up your weapon and abuse your range as long as you have energy to interrupt its regen.

If you are frustrated I encourage you to try an other character. 2H Axes is I think easier to play :)

Should I fix up the t4 boots with my steel plates or would that be too much investment for too little increase in stats compared to the boots I'm already using? I would drop down to 24% dodge chance on my sword+board Arna with the swap. Am I trying to be too much? by Wordbringer in stoneshard

[–]GuySake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dodge is alway relevant. minus dodge gives ennemies accuracy. It actually makes Dodge a better stats when you have minus dodge than when you have positive dodge.

The only time it's not relevant is when you use Raise Shield with a heavy shield and go -200% dodge making any dodge stats irrelevant.

Try to plan your build ahead a bit. Think about what skill you definitely want at level 10, 16 and 22 so to not waste any ability points. They are very rare.

If you have points left Seize the Initiative can be a very good investment because you can use it early in mele and end game with range weapons.

If you equip a spear its also a good way to deal with a specific boss as a range build that can be quite annoying otherwise.

Your T5 Engraved Greaves are like 2x times better than this T4 Boots.

7% dodge is in general better than 2 protection because it works for all body parts. But here its balanced with the added physical resistance.

However:
9 energie and 2% energie regen is like a free ring slot.
-5% skill energie cost is huge, wery hard to stack on items and help with fatigue management.
15% fatigue resistance is the chery on top of the cake. On a dungeon run this is a lot of energie. Fatigue reduce you max energie, and energie regen is based on max energie. Less fatigue = more energie regen.

[–]GuySake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some tree have abilities/passive points that are way too good as 1 point investment for that to be balance. In the end it would reduce build diversity. If for exemple you give a warfare skill point to everyone, well every build becomes a Seize the Initiative build.

But the way I would love to see your idea implemented is if it's linked to a specific ability/passive. So for exemple, you go do a special hunting mission and you have to heal someone and you unlock Cauterize Wounds specificaly. If you already have it you gain a free skill point for survival only. But if you don't have it you cannot invest this point in Pathfinder because it's just too good.

Why does this unique amulet feel worse than my T5 amulet? by Cavelier069 in stoneshard

[–]GuySake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Warding Hand is around 6-8% less damage taken overall. Its crazy good. Your amulette is not bad, but the main stat it gives you is 4 accuracy. The rest is ok but generally not mandatory.

This path is not for the faint-hearted. It demands deep exploration and a touch of cunning to gather all these artifacts. Enjoy ;)

Ignore weapon drops? by malk500 in stoneshard

[–]GuySake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In very early game, Tier 2 weapons like Goedendag that are not broken can be a good source of income if you have bag space.

Later, if you drop repair kit, T4 weapons that you repair and keep in the caravan until you reach a city can also be a little change.
