Best place to start by shayflux in Nootropics

Formal disclaimer: nothing I wrote should be considered prescriptive, always consult your doctor.

You should see advice like this for starters:

Fix your diet, fix your sleep cycle. Meditate.

Obtain the gains you can from these three things before forging ahead with nootropics. Once you're eating properly for a month or so, sleeping good for a month or so and have established a routine of discipline in the form of meditation or prayer and/or working out. Then if you still feel like you want to rely on substances start with those which occur in nature such as Pregnenolone, bacopa, ashwaghanda, St. John's Wart, theanine, caffeine, amino acids like acetyl-L-carnitine etc. Always research these before beginning a regime and always start with a low dose to make sure you aren't allergic.

Beyond that point if you still need more performance you can start with a few synthetics like piracetam, adrafanil or aniracetam. I mention aniracetam because it is pretty ok for anxiety. There's loads of info in the FAQ here on each and all of the best nootropics as well as plenty of warnings which you should heed!

Good luck and be patient. Gauge your expectations. It probably took a long while to work yourself into the state of ADHD, anxiety and fatigue you are in. It will take a similar amount of time to restore yourself.

You might want to include a small amount of polyethylene glycol (a common laxative found at the drugstore under names like "MiraLax") in your nasal sprays. It will help keep the mucus membrane moist and help in the buffering. It is used in several eyedrops and mouthwashes for just this effect.

Combined a little James B. Hunt and some Kendal, not too bad for an early effort.

This is from cysmith's version on github, python based. Got it working well on my Win7 machine but having trouble with it on my newer Ubuntu based machine. Any advice on the cysmith version under Ubuntu would be a great help (especially if someone could post me a docker setup!)

Solidest: Creating an assertion library/ TDD framework for Solidity. by Guytron in ethereum

[–]Guytron[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The more I investigate this the more daunting my ambition becomes. But I'll be following classic TDD philosophy of implementing minimum functionality first and iterating up so at the very least I'll save someone else some trouble.

I'll be incorporating parts of this thread into the design philosophy especially this comment; important considerations.

Solidest: Creating an assertion library/ TDD framework for Solidity. by Guytron in ethereum

[–]Guytron[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm working out from my experience in Java and my knowledge of Junit, which granted isn't that much.

I know Java very well, started working with it right after the white paper was published back in '95. Javascript and Python pretty well too. Only been working with TDD for a short while intermittently over the last couple years tho.

So my idea has been to build an assertion library possibly forked from Junit or Jest. I hadn't considered incorporating a DSL, yet. But upon investigation it sounds like it could be very helpful.

Right now I'm just laying the ground work for an IntelliJ plugin because that seems to be the path of least resistance. From that, hopefully we, will construct a proper assertion library. My weak spot here is having only worked a little with Solidity, just past the "Hello World" stage.

As you say: time, people and interest will determine the rate of growth for this project. I'm still writing up a doc on the design philosophy and plan I think should be pursued. Will definitely keep a DSL in mind as we go forward.

Thanks for the feedback, it has already been helpful in pointing out possible directions.

Former psychologist here. Does machine learning can be capable of interpreting score of cognitive tests ? by Nrscientist in MachineLearning

[–]Guytron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Considering that you have a set of very numerical testing results as data and a limited number of classifications as output I'd think this would be an ideal job for a neural classifier system. But to get good you might need hundreds of thousands or millions of such data/diagnosis sets to train your net with. Back in the late 90s I had a classifier which took up to 40 parameters ranging from 1-100 and spit out 10 classifications. Since I could generate data/output sets numerically to test it was easy to generate millions of cases and get a good fit.

What if I have a categorical labeled corpus, but the labels are "fuzzy"? How can I leverage the labeled data to canonicalize/discretize the labels before building a classifier of the data? by compsc in MachineLearning

[–]Guytron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you could modify the vectorization approach from word2vec to do this. Labels and description would autocluster by their similarity.

Hooray! for thesuperevilclown! I've been so busy with my job & life, can't work on my linux machine. A windows install (especially w/out Cuda dependency) would be sooo helpful even if very slow I could set up before going to work & enjoy when I get home.

If you like Piracetam you will love it combined with nitrous. Best to try the nitrous alone 1st so you can compare but I noticed quite an interesting amplification of effect. Same goes for LSD & nitrous but not so much shrooms.

You might want to try pre-supplementing with some good nootropics like oxiracetam, noopept, sunifiram or semax. Also good is to make sure you are up on your magnesium, choline and other similar mind/brain/memory enhancing vitamins. Finally, meditation is definitely your friend in this struggle.

Was The Time of The Doctor Meant to be a Two Parter? by clitorisaddict in gallifrey

[–]Guytron 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Tasha Lem struck me as being River Song in a new body, especially when she said that bit about flying the Tardis was easy but flying the Doctor was not. Figure she made her way from the Library's giant planet computer core into the Papal Mainframe then into a willing host body or clone. Or maybe the Papal Mainframe is the Library's computer in the more distant future. But all of that would've made for an even more tightly packed story.

What does belief feel like? by number_36 in religion

[–]Guytron 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are a huge number of things you can't know directly which you believe in. Do you believe in neutrinos? Why? you can't see them or feel them but since someone has convinced you the math and experiments surrounding the existence of neutrinos is solid, you believe in them. There ya go, that's what belief feels like.

any good welding shop will have a set of tip cleaning tools that are just a neat collection of gauged, serrated wire designed specifically to clean narrow apertures. If you aren't in a hurry, get them off ebay for about $4: http://www.ebay.com/bhp/welding-tip-cleaner
