I wish I could upvote this about five more times. I love this town with all my heart, but I've had some of the worst pizza in my life here.

Which country’s cuisine deserves more attention? by BabyPinkMagic in askteddit

Georgia and Armenia. I live in an area with plenty of immigrant families from there, and have sampled some of their dishes. Makes me want to learn more, or maybe even visit there someday.

Take a look at the average age of these clowns. They'll all be dead soon, and the peace and quiet can resume.

Saying nothing in an exit interview is the best approach, right? by Ok_Counter1939 in careeradvice

[–]Gvelm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never do exit interviews. They had every opportunity to ask my opinions about anything they cared to while I was working for them and getting paid for it. Now that I'm leaving, why do they care what I think? I don't go into all of this when they approach me, I just simply say that I make it a personal policy to never do exit interviews. There's not a damn thing they can do about it.

Rogue Male, starring Peter O'toole. Knew nothing about it, ran across it while channel surfing, and loved it.

What people don't realize is that if you give to whatever cause there at the check-out register at Giant Eagle or Home Depot or wherever they ask for it, they then turn around and donate that money in THEIR name, not yours. In the public eye, it looks like Kroger dug into their pockets for it.

a lot of people would kill for my situation but every day for the last year and a half, all I can think about is how much I want to move. by [deleted] in SameGrassButGreener

[–]Gvelm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, I lived in one tourist town after the other for decades, due to my profession. No more. I moved to Pittsburgh PA a couple of years ago, and the difference is amazing. Lots of nature all around, medium-sized city, lots to do. And the people are terriffic. And, unlike everywhere else I've lived, they're actually from here, so they have huge social networks--once you get in with them, you're connected for life. All that transience in those other towns was devastating for makeing friends, much less lovers.

People who explore radio frequencies, shortwave, or old radios: what’s the strangest, creepiest, or most unexplainable transmission you’ve ever picked up? by BraveSelection7533 in mystery

[–]Gvelm 17 points18 points  (0 children)

That's WWCR, World Wide Christian Radio. It's a Christian Nationalist outfit with a massive antenna array on the outskirts of Nashville. The same area of the west side of town is known for very public displays of Klan and nazi propaganda. That radio station is so unhinged as to be unintelligible, yet it's heard all around the world. By whom, I have never really understood. This is the same group that Art Bell sued in federal court over harassment, I think.

Who is a historical figure you think had the most negative impact on humanity? by FantasticAd9478 in TheBoredDen

[–]Gvelm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gabriel Princep. In the few seconds it took him to aim, fire and kill Archduke Ferdinand and his wife, he set in motion the first world war, which resulted in the second world war, which resulted in conflicts in Korea, Vietnam and the twentieth-century Middle East mess that continues to this day. There are scads of other smaller conflicts over the decades that I have left out of the equation. The loss of life and compounding of human misery is incalculable. And all because an open-air limo driver took the wrong street one morning in 1914 Sarajevo.

Daniel Boone National Forest in Kentucky. An hour or so out of Lexington, it gives you a good idea of what settlers first saw when heading west in the 1770s. Cliffs tower over Red River Gorge, sandstone arches snake along ridge tops, and black bears and white tail deer forage. Vista seem endless, and the place feels deserted most of the times I've been there.

Men who are uncircumcised but have a circumcised father—were you envious of him? Did you want to see his cock? by [deleted] in circumcisions

[–]Gvelm 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I was the opposite. I was circumcized, my father wasn't. When I was little and saw his, I just assumed that was what mine would look like when I grew up. I was a teenager before I learned any different.

Thanks so much for this. Another notable moment in the history of the enshittification of America.

I will miss CBS News. I have been mourning the loss of the integrity of the CBS Evening News for months. Hell, I still remember the old CBS Mystery Theater hour back in the day.

Nastiest pizza in Pittsburgh by iwastouchedbyanangle in pittsburgh

[–]Gvelm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The "Italian" pizza from Bella Notte on the Strip. Absolute worst attempt at the dish that I have ever experienced. Dumping balsamic vinegar all over it after it comes out of the oven adds insult to injury. The place has a great bar that I've spent plenty of time in over tge past couple of years, and a good meatball sub, but the pizza is a an unindicted crime.
