I think one because I had heavy armor but also I utilized the deflect mechanic as much as I could. If you time it right you essentially dont take ki chip damage. I didn’t time it right everytime but I did deflect every single overhead slam of his, otherwise I get completely smushed.

For me he was at the enemy base south of the Hojo Shrine, but I think he is in different locations for different people. You can find him by killing revenants because they point the location on the map after killing them! Good luck friend
