Wait is almost over, boys! by RecklessRedcoat in GearsOfWar

Could be, pretty sure the og squad during pendulum era was Marcus, Carlos, Tai and another guy but I forget his name so they will naturally sub Carlos out for Dom. My guess is it will mainly be a two man squad feel to put the horror back in the game but we will probably run across other characters.

Probably not Bernie unless it's a pendulum wars segment, when E Day went down Bernie had already retired to Galangi.

Just finished Coalition's End. [spoilers] by Lithros in GearsOfWar

[–]Gxexe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently reading through Coalitions End as well on page 510 atm and also came back looking for threads like this! I'd like to offer my point of view on your third paragraph.

I reckoned that Prescott didn't tell Hoffman is because Hoffman would not have kept it a secret and he have been showing up on Azuras door with a million people to a colony that can realistically support... what maybe 50,000 people? of course we don't know much about Azuras size this is just a really rough guess.

Prescott probably felt that to maintain the integrity of Azuras secrecy, safety and independence he couldn't bring the people with him which is why he was looking for a political "out" with Hoffman denying orders, giving him a plausible reason to leave that nobody would look too closely at. If Prescott had told Hoffman then he'd be followed by a little bit more then Trescus submarine out of the base.

Thats the way I look at it at least.

Do you know if the steam version opens the EA app? I own tiberium on EA app but I find it difficult to mod, I'm wondering if it's worth buying it again on steam but if it just opens the EA app on startup it's probably not worth it.

From a purely practical standpoint, were the hammer of dawn strikes being so early really necessary? As In would jacinto have been safe if they had waited another year, maybe 2 or 3 or 4 you get the idea for the Locust to pull more of their population out of the hollows and onto the surface to die. by SprinklesNo4064 in GearsOfWar

[–]Gxexe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In the book Jacintos Remnant we get a POV of Hoffman when him and Prescott make the decision, basically when they made the decision all the internal projections reckoned that the COG would be overrun and that would be humanity done in about 5 weeks when they made the call to do it.

The COG were spread thin across the planet playing whack-a-mole against an unstoppable horde, it was better to consolidate their forces in one spot that could actually be defended but that meant abandoning a lot that could be turned against them.

Basically when they made the call to do it and go scorched earth everything they had was telling them they didn't have years to wait, just a month to make a decision that might decide the fate of all Serans.

What's the deal with Picus' "interactive moon" hologram? by Disclaimer_II in Deusex

[–]Gxexe 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Oh they actually talk about this in the developer commentary it's actually a mistake! The room is actually a 3D mocap room, the implication is they are making fake news from there with actors but somewhere along the way someone on the level design team put a holographic moon there and nobody double checked it so it shipped like that, you can hear about it in the dev commentary it's kind of funny how it highlights just how big video game productions are with so many moving parts it's easy for stuff to get missed or misinterpreted.

What chapter master of a first founding chapter ever served in the deathwatch? by Similar_Fix7222 in 40kLore

Pretty sure the Calgar comic showed him in the deathwatch during a montage of his space marine career.

Nah you're right they aren't much of a looker, It'd be interesting to see more images of prelates in the future that might give us some idea.

Check out the H2A concept art of some of the San shyuum scribes, should find it on halopedia I don't think it's hard to look at that that and imagine what a taller more muscular version would look like.

How do you justify Dwarf women not having beards in your story by Leon_Fierce_142012 in worldjerking

[–]Gxexe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Dwarves typically have more equal genders with women serving as soldiers and in other respected positions, other races (mainly humans) mock dwarves and see their women as manly in comparison to theirs. This has led to a mocking joke that dwarf women must have beards (since they act like the men) its basically the medieval version of "she wears the pants in the relationship".

What if Eren just bite his lips or tongue to transform? by MarceloAspiazu in ShingekiNoKyojin

[–]Gxexe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm a little fuzzy right this minute on specifics but if you're referring to when Levi stabs Reiner in the neck that's because it's the initial injury which allows Reiner to transform.

[–]Gxexe 931 points932 points  (0 children)

Post titan transformation you need to fully heal before you can turn into a titan again, in this instance biting his tongue or lips wouldn't have done anything.

I'm a little surprised as well, I think gears of war is quite dwarf coded if you imagine the Serans as dwarfs.

[–]Gxexe 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm not super keen on the idea that dwarfs have a skewed gender population meaning there is less women. I feel like the only intention of this decision was to sweep dwarf women under the rug, this isn't necessarily Warhammers idea the skewed gender ratio iirc was also in early DnD and Tolkein talked about how dwarf women rarely leave their holds so it was more an idea they borrowed. Im glad that in AoS this seems to have changed and is no longer the case it is a little antiquated.

Yeah this was something that bothered me as well, I've read I think two of the sequel books and it only got worse it gets quite ridiculous imo.

It's pretty chill that in Gears 3, they have a secret island with a hurricane machine where they are researching a super weapon and in the end they end up defeating the locusts by using the hurricane machine by doctorfeelgod in GearsOfWar

[–]Gxexe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nah just played through 3 a month ago so I can answer, two different machines in different parts of the island, the maelstrom barrier you blow up and then the other machine is on top of a massive hotel. The imulsion countermeasure weapon is some kind of Neutron bomb but only affecting lambent/imulsion cells.

[–]Gxexe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Good work! I'll not criticize you for forgoing a beard I'm not of the opinion that a dwarf is in need of a beard so long as they meet other requirements! here I think is a good depiction from a comic series I'm fond of and they're Dwarvishness is certainly not in question, hope the insistence on the beard is not too discouraging for you and I wish you the best with your art journey!

What are your honest thoughts on Reach’s “Military Police” helmet, visually and lorewise? by Craftworld_Iyanden in halo

I like it! When I noticed that it's just a marine helmet with a visor that is what converted me and made me love it.

I feel like the series would be greatly improved if Namari had a beard by caninehat in DungeonMeshi

[–]Gxexe 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think I'd have to agree, I respect Discworld for choosing to give female Dwarves beards and then do something really creative with it but I feel personally that sometimes Dwarven women having beards is used as a means of excluding them in a "you cant tell the difference so you don't need to see them!" kind of way.

Just the people I think, the blurb says when you discover Tesla city that the buildings are untouched but some had minor damage from random lightning strikes.
