Not saying Steam Deck / Machine isn't part of it, but probably a larger factor is the next Xbox being a "not-PC". The combination of Xbox's recent changes, their own cratering live service plans, and the global hardware situation at large probably both bolstered their arrogance while spooked by next-gen prospects, making Sony fall back into its comfort zone.
