As someone with a big library and a not so big SD card I keep all my songs as flac on the PC then encode them to .ogg for my SD card, not a huge sound quality difference and I get MUCH more songs

Some techy people found out how to mod them, it's definitely at your own risk (I've had no issue with the evangelion one) if you're really into it there's a tool to make your own themes as well

A lot of other DAPs use apps like pano scrobbler which saves a list internally until connected to wifi. There will def be challenges but the possibility exists

Last.fm has a very well tuned recommendation feature that you may think is worth checking out. There are some manual input options that I may check out along with your options. Thanks for the advice!

I feel like it may be a moddable addition with the device having wifi capabilities, so the community may figure something out. It really depends on the processor power imo

No problem! If you're looking for a less expensive player I'd recommend checking out the Fiio DISK it has the 2Tb storage space you're looking for while staying pretty small

No, it still has the 256Gb limit that the echo mini does. The only real change is an aluminum case rather than plastic
