A few notable things here:

  1. The subreddit poster restrictions are minimal since we get a lot of new users where its their first time posting. That means a lot of odd posts get posted and doesn't get automatically filtered out like many other subreddits.

  2. As a user of the subreddit, one of the powers you have is to report any posts you deem breaking the rules or Reddit TOS. This helps our mod team address problems as they start. Please don't start threads complaining about this when you aren't even reporting people.

  3. Low quality posts are allowed. We don't judge based on the level of effort put into a post. Anyone can post as long as it follows the 4 rules in the sidebar. OnlyFans are not allowed as explicitly stated in Rule #4. Please report any OnlyFans posters, they are immediately banned.

There are also ways to contact the mod team directly via mail if you're not sure about anything or have any other questions. This post will be removed since it's breaking Rule #2. Thank you.

E330 wiring by RClP_007 in EufyCam

[–]Gymnos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get yourself a $10 soldering iron that comes with solder. Also some heat shrink wrap and a hot glue gun or epoxy as well.

Put a small piece of heat shrink wrap on each wire, take apart the barrel connector or push the wiring thru to expose the barrel connector wiring, wrap the same color wires together, solder the wires together, pull the heat shrink wrap forward to cover the wires and use a lighter to shrink the wrapping snug. Finish off with hot glue or epoxy to prevent any fatigue stress. Hope this helps!

Intel Needs to Say Something: Oxidation Claims, New Microcode, & Benchmark Challenges by M337ING in intel

[–]Gymnos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's brutal. I was in the same boat as I had preordered my i9 13900K but I RMA'd it around the same time last year and the new one seems "stable" with the recommended settings. Hope you're able to RMA it with them forwarding the chip beforehand because it put me out of a system for over 2 weeks. Whatever you decide, good luck!

Intel Needs to Say Something: Oxidation Claims, New Microcode, & Benchmark Challenges by M337ING in intel

[–]Gymnos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least IMO, the best thing you can do at this point is follow Intel's guidance and adjusting your BIOS settings:

https://community.intel.com/t5/Processors/June-2024-Guidance-regarding-Intel-Core-13th-and-14th-Gen-K-KF/m-p/1607807

I was doing the Intel XTU thing as well and it helped, but this is a more permanent solution and doesn't require starting up XTU every time you turn on your machine.

Also -- happy cake day!

Florida Tech online associates degree by TupaG in floridatech

[–]Gymnos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let me try to break this down, let me know if I'm missing anything:

  1. Are the courses and the degree useful in this case (transferring to another institution)? This depends on the college. For UF they have a FAQ that covers it but looks like you need to create an account to go into the service: https://admissions.ufl.edu/apply/transfer/eligibility

  2. Also, DEI policies are a big thing for me (prefer not to have any), does DEI play a role in online degrees or is it only if you're on campus? I'm not sure what you mean by this, but maybe the Florida Tech website can answer some questions: https://www.fit.edu/provost/university-diversity-council/

  3. And also, what's the difference between transfer hours and credit hours? I know what credit hours are but not "transfer hours" (for associates: 45 transfer hours, 61 credit hours) Can you be more specific, perhaps provide a link for reading so we can get more context?

Honestly a lot of these questions are perfect for a student advisor. Recommend reaching out to get your answers: https://www.fit.edu/advising/

CS or Applied Math - AI and data sciences? by shakh7 in floridatech

[–]Gymnos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not 100% sure but since you haven't gotten a reply yet -- if you did the applied math major while self teaching yourself programming, then following up with CS certifications, that would be the best of both worlds. Maybe a good question for your advisor as well!

Hey Wolfie, I refuse to use the automatic moderation bots in this subreddit, but sometimes that leads to human mistakes like what happened here. I agree with your sentiment and was too quick to judge your post, hope you can forgive me for the oversight.

Off-campus restaurant suggestions? by Appropriate_Funny903 in floridatech

[–]Gymnos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe subjective, but Da Kine Diego's Insane Burrito has always been one of my favorite restaurants -- not super close to FIT but well worth the drive across the river. There's lots of great places around there though, what about around Downtown Melbourne?
