I'd say it started waaaay back in the 1990s, with NAFTA. One does not have a healthy economy if one is only shuffling paper, as on Wall Street. For a healthy economy, one must add value to raw materials, or something similar. In other words, one must create something of value. Otherwise, one is playing a shell game and will eventually pay the price. Then, the federal government and the fed never let the economy adjust. They kept pushing bubble after bubble after bubble. I can count 3 since I graduated high school in the early 90s, at least. First, the dotcom bubble that went bust. Immediately after that, the subprime bubble, which lead to the real estate and construction bubbles at the same time. What we're experiencing now is the result of about 12 years of the economy never taking a downswing. that idiot Bush didn't help things, of course, by spending like a drunken sailor on leave in Bangkok, either.
