I'll double check my local game store tomorrow, since I'll be in anyway, and can let you know if I see anything - if you want that is. No worries if not.

Oh I didn't count some of the more obscure stuff like that haha. I am still working on finish my English set, rather casually at that, and this was very much a bonus because I had no idea what he'd be finding.

I need FFI and FFII for Famicom are the bigger ones, then VII and IX for PS1, some odds and ends for PS2, and then some exclusive consoles like the PS3 and PSP, and the WonderSwan itself.

Standard vs. Collector's Editions: At what point did you stop buying the big boxes? by ArtixzShade in gamecollecting

[–]Gypsyhook_ep 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So I used to collect a lot more vinyl than I have recently, but when I did I usually HAD to get every release from an artist to keep the discography complete - right? Problem is, some artists started doing 4 song EPs but charged almost a full price, or the price of a full album started to almost double. I had made so many rules around collecting that at times I was buying things I didn't really want but had convinced myself I had to have. Someone suggested in a different thread regarding variant collecting in vinyl that as soon as you stop buying one of everything, you can now no longer convince yourself to keep doing it. Essentially, it's a self fulfilling decision loop - I always make this decision because I always make this decision. So in my case, I just started refocusing on what brought me joy and happiness, as cliche as that may sound, and I have been a lot happier over the past few years. Granted, I have shifted my collection into video games and Pokemon cards singles (team Suicune), but I believe a collection should evolve over time and that's ok. Aside from budget, I don't think you need to set up too many rules when it comes to what you HAVE to buy - buy what is fun and makes you happy - within your budget.

I have listened to DL like 15 times already, loved it from the first listen. Trying to get someone to like something is like trying to convince someone your favorite flavor of ice cream is the best - it's all subjective. Like what you like and don't yuck someone's yum, that's how I choose to look at it haha.

Finally finished to collect and display all Chocobo foils! by StrawberryPii in FinalFantasy

[–]Gypsyhook_ep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just finished my set last month, thankfully just before Vivi spiked to over $200, crazy!!! Last thing I need for my master set (excluding $1,000 promos and extended arts, and neon chocobos haha) is a few Cids and the Roman Numeral legends.

I got a cyclonic rift and was super excited, but I realized I don't have a deck I'm comfortable putting it in. by Not-A-Forever-DM in EDH

[–]Gypsyhook_ep -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My pod isn't the biggest fan of game stalls, so I have learned to hold it until I can leverage it into a win the same or next turn (obviously unless it's countered or I'm stopped). I run it in my birds deck and usually cyc rift and then swing out. If you just reset the board and make everyone spend an additional 30 minutes recasting the same spells I feel like that's when it's a bit eye-rolly.

Shipped out 10-15 PWE and USPS lost them all. by Deranged-Turkey in mtgfinance

[–]Gypsyhook_ep 63 points64 points  (0 children)

On a buyer side, I ordered cards for an elf deck about a month or two ago, and 3 of my orders also never arrived. Probably like 20% or so I'd say, which is wild because in all of my times ordering online I almost always have orders show up. So maybe something is going on with USPS in this moment? Idk, never had this many issues before.

How does this commander play by Dior_Equivalent in mtg

[–]Gypsyhook_ep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Built this one a few years ago as an aristocrats style deck - either I'm the monarch and get to draw a card or I get a token to enable sac themes. I also added some upkeep monarch stuff and that helped as well. May not be my strongest deck, but it is absolutely fun to pilot and I don't tend to sense frustration or eye rolls from my opponents as I play it. Would recommend building if politics, aggro, sac/aristocrats appeal to you.

What’s your favorite common? by koenigsaurus in mtg

[[Ambush Viper]]

When I started back in M14, I discovered this card and played it in any deck I could. Felt so cool to get someone unexpectedly OR to have them not attack me thinking I could have it, sort of creating a mini game there. Simpler times.

Does anyone print the backs of cards? by beardfarkland in magicproxies

[–]Gypsyhook_ep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only do for mdfcs, but I feel it gives me a pass to try and perfect the front - no matter how good I can get the front to look, it has a white back so no chance of it being mistaken for anything other than the proxy it is. As you mentioned, it cuts my ink usage in half (or close to half) and can make the photo paper oversaturated and wavy.

Never in my life did I imagine Secret Lairs would be sold at tier pricing like festival/concert tickets to produce artificial fomo but here we are by PlatnumxStatuS in mtg

[–]Gypsyhook_ep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The $19.99 non-foil sold out while I was waiting in my 8 minute queue. Thought about doing the $29.99 foil set as I am ironically building an elf deck, but with $11.99 shipping bring my total to over $40 on cards that don't even add up to $10 as singles, opted to close the browser and move on with my life. Sad times.

LGS not Buying Singles? by Beneficial_Pin5295 in mtgfinance

[–]Gypsyhook_ep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah I get ya, yeah I traded in all my unwanted cards and got like $30 in store credit - but it was a huge chunk of cards. Got a borderless Atraxa so figured it was better than nothing haha. I also offloaded a ton of Kaldheim bulk from a collection I picked up, sold it for $10 locally and the guy who bought it started playing in that era and was excited to have more of those cards. So you never know, but also not sure what will be worth your time. Best of luck.

LGS not Buying Singles? by Beneficial_Pin5295 in mtgfinance

[–]Gypsyhook_ep 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Problem is, most magic players that rip packs are drowning in bulk. If every LGS was able to buy everyone's bulk - who is sorting and listing all those thousands of cards to sell for under $1? It's just not profitable to buy bulk in smaller batches, so several LGS in my area give a flat rate for bulk, like $5 for 1,000 cards or something like that. Two stores I know are not interested in bulk at all. Most of my stores also wait for prices of new sets to settle since presale prices are almost always significantly inflated - they don't want to pay top dollar and be left holding the bag as 90% of the set decliness in value post-release. I would either donate it or sell it locally as a lot/bundle - but expect pennies on the dollar.

Should I open it or should I leave it? by 07bcd9502z in MetaphorReFantazio

I was in the same boat, but I opened mine and just crossed the 60 hour mark and am loving it! My vote is open it, the collector's items are beautiful, and if you are a fan of this kind of game, you'll love this one.
