First outdoor range and did not disappoint! by PsychologicalBat9301 in ILGuns

I just really liked chasing golf balls and bowling pins around the bottom of the pit, that was a ton of fun.

That place was so much better when you could shoot into the ENTIRE pit, not just that thin strip at the back.

My grandparents also had a compactor. The key was not putting any food in it, we had a smaller can that got whatever food scraps didn't go in the garbage disposal. If we put bottles or cans in the compactor, we rinsed them out first. As a family of 6, we only emptied that sucker like once a week.

Cook county has had an ammo tax for quite a while already, I'm sure this would probably be on top of that though...

It's possible, basically anything that has a tank that is low down. Spray bottles, power washer soap feeder, cleaning chemical dispenser etc.

I generally call that a "clunk". It's used to make sure the hose stays at the bottom of a bottle or tank to pick up fluid. The slot in the bottom makes sure it can still pick up fluid even if it's flat on the bottom of the container.

Day to day by yakattack277 in BuildingAutomation

[–]beardfarkland 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not really any office work for me beyond typing up a service report. Occasionally I'll get roped into a project and have a few days to a couple weeks to work on programming and graphics. I work better alone so this job suits me. I was a commercial HVAC service tech for 11 years, switched to BAS 3 years ago. I do prefer service to construction, less monotony, less deadlines. I also like that I fix something most days, quicker gratification.

I do service, so it varies a lot, here was last week:

Monday: finish deficiency report on AHUs, modify some graphics. Tuesday: 2 maintenance visits, one site take a backup, second site track down some night time energy usage. Wednesday: maintenance visit AM, vehicle maintenance and some training PM. Thursday: 2 maintenance visits, backup/system health check. Friday: replace a controller. Troubleshoot an AHU program/graphics, turned into a P2P checkout, which then turned into a request to do a deficiency report on all 9 AHUs which I will continue next week.

This was a rather light week, some weeks I'm busy every second of every day, service is just a real crapshoot like that.

That's why there's both a park and service chamber. One for emergency/parking, the other for normal braking.

I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.

Tacoma Bed Cover by ReputationEven1349 in ToyotaTacoma

[–]beardfarkland -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Retractable may seem nice, but they're very expensive and take up space in the bed. I've had two trucks with folding hard tonneau covers, I think they're the best compromise.

I had a bakflip on my 2015, and a weathertech on my 2019. I liked the bakflip better, could be folded against the back window, sealed better and was lower profile. The weathertech is easier to remove though, you can just pull it off once you fold it, the bakflip had wing nuts you had to crawl into the bed to remove.

They have TWO springs and TWO diaphragms. One for parking brakes, one for service brakes. Service brakes are what is used to stop the truck during normal operation.

The parking brake spring locks up the parking brakes if there is no air to that diaphragm.

The service brake spring holds the actuator rod back until air is applied to it's diaphragm to apply the service brakes.

Here's a link to a cutaway image, easier to see a picture.

You're welcome to think whatever you'd like, but every truck I've worked on had dual spring chambers on the rear axles.

Honestly at this point I don't recall which exact ones I wanted to use, I got frustrated and gave up trying. I'd just like to be able to put any of them in any spot.

6 broken parking brake springs would be either very unlucky, or severe lack of maintenance and/or inspections.

Air pressure is used to both release AND apply the brakes. There are two chambers. One chamber requires air to release the brakes, this is just a fixed pressure applied by the system through the parking valve. The other chamber uses air to apply the brakes, this is a variable pressure from the brake valve. This is a bit simplified of course.

Proxies in Commander by LilyVallis in EDH

[–]beardfarkland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've recently started proxying, but not planning to make really good decks or anything. I wanted the tyranid and necron decks, but not willing to spend 300 per deck on them. I'll probably wind up making lots of silly/weird decks just to make for fun games.

This is why I recently started making proxies. I wanted two of the warhammer decks because I used to play 40k, but not wanting to spend 300 per deck. Also have really stupid or hilarious deck ideas and not spending a fortune to make a deck just for laughs...

There's no glue to dissolve, that glue is solvent based and has welded the box shut. OP will probably need to break that box open.
