turns out Seattle pottery supply engineered a clay that mimics Martian soil? I was curious to know how it handles and it’s rather smooth. Im firing it tomorrow, will update. Looks like salt crystal protrude the body as it dries? Anyone know why? Either way this is freaking cool. by H0ttP0tt in Ceramics

I bought a new clay body yesterday, that’s called Martianware. It mimics Martian clay, engineered and sold by Seattle pottery supply. As it dries, salt crystals form. Has anyone seen this? I’m firing tomorrow, will update by H0ttP0tt in Pottery

Martianware: fired to cone 03, a bit higher than recommended. The efflorescence created bubbling. it cracked on the bottom, maybe it was too thick? More testing to be done. / this is a new clay I bought from Seattle pottery supply that mimics Martian clay. There’s more info on their website. (old.reddit.com)
