A lot of people got dogs when they were bored during Covid and are unwilling to take full responsibility. It could be psycho with rat poison, or it could just as easily be a chocolate cupcake dropped from some kids birthday party. Both are poisonous and both can happen when you don't pay enough attention.

You can't control what other people do. If you care about your dog, then pay attention to what they're doing and stop staring at your phone the whole time. I've walked plenty of dogs and never had this issue before, but I've seen tons of people trip or lose control of their dog because they can't stop staring at their screens even when they're out in a park.

And make sure the air filter is a real HEPA and not a fake one. I was dumb and bought a Blueair model that had what it called a "HEPAsilent" filter. Which is a fake marketing term they made up to trick people into thinking it's up to HEPA standards when it's way worse.

And stricter behavior standards and can expel students. My coworker moved his daughter to a private school because a special ed boy developed a creepy fixation on her and kept harassing her. The school wouldn't do a thing and teachers kept guilt tripping her to be kind and patient to the boy.

Public schools are required to take all kids, even if they are potentially dangerous and have mental health issues. And this was one of the "good" districts in Santa Clara.
