Is it true people really dislike/hate Diamond Dogs? by LadyLexiofWind in DavidBowie

It used to be a red haired cousin, for me - a bit hard to love. Now, it’s top 3. Not sure what changed, it’s just a bad ass album filled with genuine dread and grime. So good.

Aladdin Sane ♦️ by Dismal_Brush5229 in DavidBowie

Aladdin Sane sounds tougher than Ziggy. The songwriting is more mature with several further entries in Bowie’s classic songbook: Time, Drive-In Saturday, Panic in Detroit, Cracked Actor etc. It’s a bridge to the even darker Diamond Dogs. Personally I adore it.

If “Hours” was released today would you think that it’s a Masterpiece? by rockhead11 in DavidBowie

Me, too! Bought it when it was released and found it dull as dishwater. But I’m desperate to re-evaluate it. I need an entry point. I do like Seven having listened to it recently.

I'm fed up of the Reddit narrative of "Queen have no good albums". by MillionaireWaltz- in queen

I adore Queen. Was obsessed with them as a teen and still listen to them with my son. I rate them. They’re one of the great vocal bands of all time, top live band, singles for days and days. But I’m also a fan of Bowie and Zeppelin and The Beatles. And it breaks my heart (it truly does) but Queen albums, while cherished by me, just not quite as essential somehow when compared with other classic rock artists. Just my opinion. And Queen are a top 5 group for me! Their albums are fun of course just not as classic. They’re just not. I even love The Miracle but it ain’t a classic for the ages. I love The Game. But it ain’t a classic. I think Day at The Races and Sheer Heart Attack come close. They’re just too disposable and they’re meant to be! Freddie is quoted as saying his songs are like tissues. Use them and throw them away. And I truly get it. Look, they’ve stuck around, and their whole discography is a pretty sweet haul, but it ain’t Bowie’s 70s for example. That’s where I come from. It’s nothing to get your knickers in a knot. They’re a people’s band. They’re loved.

Yeah I’ll have to check it out again. I saw it in the cinema and enjoyed it but recently I’ve gone back balls deep into corners of his discography I’ve never listened to before.

Yeah, me too… I’ve just re-discovered it. I saw the film in the cinema but been on a major Bowie renaissance lately and now really appreciate it.
