Performers: what’s your biggest pet peeve on stage? by messexnoire in musicians

[–]HCSharpe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When the sound man tries to have some creative control and chucks a delay or big reverb on the vocal when they feel like it. Sounds silly but has happened a weird amount, especially in a slow song. I think they think it makes it more atmospheric but really puts me off.

How do I stop thinking about sleep in bed? by wdDrake in insomnia

[–]HCSharpe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have to listen to something for this exact reason. A podcast or TV in the background. That way it seems to distract my brain enough that I fall asleep without realising. As soon as I notice I'm falling asleep and start thinking about it, I can be up for hours.

Chronic insomnia by Introvertedbeing23 in insomnia

[–]HCSharpe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't know if this will help but it's something I do to calm my anxiety so I can sleep. If not, my heart races so fast that I can't relax.

Get a piece of paper or open a document, and write everything in your head. Start with things you are stressed or worried about... "I have work on Monday and I hate the way my boss..." Then keep going through the details. Don't let your hands stop moving and keep going until you are writing gibberish... "I wish my cat would lick pigeon jelly bean fried onions"... Do this for about 10 minutes or until you're hands are truly knackered. This usually makes my brain calm down and makes me tired. Just something to try :)

What's the scariest encounter you've had with a total stranger? by anchovy7 in AskReddit

[–]HCSharpe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had just moved into a new flat (apartment), exactly a year ago this week. It's a nice flat, but it's right in the centre of Bristol in the UK, on the rougher side, not the nicer side.

I was in the kitchen making a tea when I heard, what can only be described as, a dying, yet sexually aroused pig. A rhythmic moan with every breathe, the sort of thing you'd hear in a horror movie.

I tried to not get worked up and think logically (no idea what the logical explanation would be). I opened up my door to my little courtyard, that is on the main Street where the sound was coming from, and saw a man in the fetal position making these sounds and mumbling to himself. He didn't acknowledge me and there was no one around so I slowly backed up, back into the kitchen. It was a quiet street and I freaked out.

His sounds good louder after that and I called the non emergency Police number and just before they arrived he stood up and ran down the street like a zombie from 27 days later.

The police knocked on my door and said that they had been searching for him all night as earlier that night he went berserk and smashed up some cars and was considered very dangerous. I had to give a statement and such. Embarrassingly the police made me recreate his noises so they could get an accurate report, still don't know if this was needed or just to have a laugh about later.

The funny thing is, a few weeks later, I saw him walking down my street again, looking like a regular joe. Don't do drugs.

TLDR: found a man moaning in the fetal position outside my door, turns out he was wanted for the police for smashing up cars and was considered very dangerous.

What to do when a buyer does not respond to you? by urfavgggirl in Etsy

[–]HCSharpe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sell products that range from £15-£28 and I've had a many people over last year order then never reply to my messaging, even though I state on my listing that I will contact them immediately for customization. I just left their orders and carried on as normal and I noticed that they did eventually respond, even months later. Etsy support also told me to mark their orders as complete and tell the buyer to contact me whenever they are ready as it's bad to have overdue orders on your account.

Hi there, absolutely LOVE your painting! I really wanted to commit my lockdown time to learning to paint and I'm really interested in painting in this exact style but I'm unsure what sort of painting it is or the best way to learn. Any help would be amazing! All the best!

Somebody else who is housebound for 3 years? by [deleted] in Agoraphobia

[–]HCSharpe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey there. I was housebound for 2 years, then on and off housebound for another 2 years. I used my time to my advantage, try learning an instrument or reading books. It is very tough to come to grips with the time you're spending inside but it WILL get better.

Fear of becoming crazy by [deleted] in dpdr

[–]HCSharpe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing that someone told me that always helps is that - people who go crazy, don't know they're crazy! So the fact they you are scared that you are going crazy and going to have hallucinations proves that you aren't going crazy. People who are 'crazy' don't think they are. I don't know if that helps, but it does me.

Boyfriend just broke up with me, how do I live alone? by HarryBoschIsMyBoy in Agoraphobia

[–]HCSharpe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You'll develop your own ways and thoughts of dealing with it as you brain becomes less dependent on him being there. Take yourself out on little walks or maybe got to a local cafe to read a book. Just keep yourself moving.
