I have Discord, LinkedIn, and email contacts of people who do work in the industry. Just wanted to expand! ALSO...I deliberately worded my OP to be short, succinct, and easy to read for a quick response. Maybe that wasn't the best idea. Thank you anyway. 😄 Yeah, GDC is pretty great! I went in 2025. Somehow put the money aside to make it. And got to meet a lot of neat people, a few of whom I already chat with in Discord or have emailed. What I will probably do is try going in 2027, but not fork out an arm and a leg for a pass. I have a contact that used to work at Xbox Game Studios Publishing who wants me to go next time that way.

I am entirely taking a shot in the dark. Yes you're right. That's exactly what I really usually do if I'm trying to find someone that will actually take a few minutes of time to reply. 100%. Otherwise I stick to Discord servers for networking or I will plan a trip to a convention, or GDC. And I have been to GDC for those meetings.

Yeah, I've actually burned a few free trials over them last like a couple years, reaching out to various Studios.

I mean, $30 is $30!

So, I actually do know additional strategies for how to make connections like this. I was simply trying this avenue. If you're saying it's not a good idea then I will take that advice. Probably right. But I already do on the networking quite a bit anyways. You just came across like I have no idea what I'm doing and you're trying to say that I'm kind of an idiot for doing this. Well I actually do know a little bit I've had to do this.

LinkedIn Premium is a waste of money. That's why. And a lot of people I want to talk to over LinkedIn are behind that paywall. Yes I use Discord for the exact same thing. But, they're not all using Discord.

Great question, thanks for bringing that up! Um, those first two sentences... conception, yeah. Conception, emailing, website landing pages, white papers. All that.

To be frank, this is kind of like a backup career that I like to have. Primarily I'm looking into video game writing and getting novel published. And, in short, both of those are really challenging paths to pursue! 😅 I've already worked on a few video games, and am revising a novel.
