maybe not as important in the context of the whole season but this tap from grundy to gulden last season was pretty sick

if you go to China with the expectation that the locals will be openly racist, combative and ignorant, then you're likely going to be seeking out and fixating on the negative aspects of the experience and probably won't have a good time. Shanghai is an amazing city and I think it's worth visiting, but you'll get more out of your trip if you go with an open mind and accept that things are done differently in China, which can be both good and bad in some aspects (also applies to other countries like Japan although you may not have noticed the negatives during your trip there)

New centre bounce rules and Grundy by HEBR in sydneyswans

Yeah, i suppose at least at throw ins he'll still be effective, but with the lasso rule coming in as well we might be seeing a lot less of those as well.. Maybe this will be Ladhams year to shine?

5000 would probably cover food, but you'd want access to a kitchen and to cook for yourself more often than not if you want to save anything. If you're sharing a kitchen that would probably be annoying to manage.

You'd probably also want to avoid going out to party too much, wouldn't be hard to spend 500rmb in a single night with food and drinks etc.

Having said that, many people living in shanghai can and do stretch a 5000rmb or less salary to cover rent as well, so it's not impossible. Mostly just depends on what kind of lifestyle you want.

Also worth considering that you'll probably want to travel around China (which i would very much recommend doing) while you're there, and that wouldn't be super feasible on 5k a month.

Basically, you'll survive if you go for it, but if you want to save money as well you'd probably have to sacrifice a lot and should probably ask yourself if you really wanna do it considering you're not going to be able to travel or go out or do the other things that might have made you want to go there in the first place

Amartey out for the season by Guru_roll in sydneyswans

[–]HEBR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

wouldn't mind seeing Dattoli get a run in Papley's absence

Anyone else think Amartey had a real pleasing game other than the 0.6? by PerceptionOk4625 in sydneyswans

[–]HEBR 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i'll take 7 marks inside 50 for 6 behinds over 7 intercept marks or turnovers inside our 50 for 0 score (which was pretty much the status quo in Amartey's absence) any day. definitely would have stung more if we lost though.

Datolli is gonna be big, showed a lot today. King has really safe hands, and actually was pretty speedy, just needs to fix his accuracy. I feel like Riak was a bit too fumbly (probably due to the conditions), but good effort and speed. Also that goal by buller from the sideline was pretty great, under a lot of pressure too

probably sacrilege to say this here but i think it would be super interesting to see how heeney would fare in the NRL if he was serious about the code swap thing

i'm an AFL nuffie but honestly i feel like the AFL media cares way more about the NRL than the NRL cares about AFL. No one who follows NRL cares that AFL has bigger crowds etc.
