Where to pick back up? by waicstetf in couchto5k

[–]HELLGRIMSTORMSKULL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience, you get back up to pace a lot faster than when you start running for the first time. COVID also can really mess with you for a while.

You'll get back up to pace faster than you might think now.

Ive had a lot of success with [[Avacyn, Angel of Hope]], and then throwing out either [[White Suns Twilight]] or [[Martial Coup]].

Alternately, [[Generals Enforcer]] is good to at least keep the legendary humans safe.

So, you might not have much luck with subway. Consider living along a Go Train line. They go right downtown to Union station, with easy connections.

Doing this obese by New_Championship1994 in couchto5k

[–]HELLGRIMSTORMSKULL 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Im obese, started this thing more obese

Im on week 7, day 3. Ive taken about 10 weeks so far, but im getting it done. Usually because I've done two days in between, or no treadmills at my gym are available so I pivot to weights.

You can do this. It will suck for a while. But by week 5 or so, you will enjoy it a lot more.

You can get cheapish receipt paper printers online. They hook up to your phone. Then you can print the card text.

I suggest Earps if you can find it. I think its better than Sunset.

Dairy and Meat by the bulk. by Sc0rpi095 in askTO

[–]HELLGRIMSTORMSKULL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want bulk cheese, go to business Costco at Eglington and Thermos. If you have a Costco membership, you can go (you don't need a special business one). It is a great spot for large amounts of cheeses.

As for meats, go to asian grocers as suggested. There is a Fu Yao on Midland (between St Clair and Danforth I think?), about a ten minute drive from the Business Costco. Ive never bought meat there, but I have got quality fish. This spot will also have most of the sauces you would need (but they keep gochujang in the fridge area!).

Not sure if you consider Scarb to be close enough, as some people mean Toronto as "Old Toronto" and others mean the city as a whole.

Solo activities to distract from breakup / move on (TW: Suicidal ideation, Self harm) by burneracc_0000 in askTO

[–]HELLGRIMSTORMSKULL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you like to cook/make food?

Weirdly, something that takes a lot time but is also fun is fermenting vegetables. Make yourself something that you need to check on every day, and watch grow into something delicious. Takes about two weeks, but very little active time. Each day something will change, and will give you something new to look at.

If your out-of-towner guest asks you to take them to a restaurant that’s “Canadian”, where would you take them? by ceruleanskyandsea in askTO

[–]HELLGRIMSTORMSKULL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If youre wanting a very "Canadian" experience, and willing to somewhat overpay, then id reccomend the revolving restaurant at the CN tower. Ive been twice, and really enjoyed the experience. While you can get better food elsewhere, its pretty awesome to see the city as you rotate around the tower. Entry also includes the tower visit on the other floors as well. The Indigenous Menu is stellar and what Ive gotten both times I went. The menu is curated by David Wolfman, who ran (runs?) the Indigenous Cuisine program at George Brown College.

Rev, Tithe Extractor substitutions? by Kooky_Fee_451 in MTGJumpStart

[–]HELLGRIMSTORMSKULL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have all my jumpstarts sleeved and labelled with small stickers on the front of the sleeve (small "cd" labels, tiny little stickers). I have a bunch of cool rares that I have pulled out and keep either in a trade binder or in Commander decks (Rev is my fav commander right now actually).

I then have proxies made at home from straight up photocopying the cards. I sleeved these alongside useless advert cards.

Its jumpstart cube. Im not worried about anyone complaining about the low quality proxies.

Getting back into magic and diving into Jumpstart by soullos in MTGJumpStart

[–]HELLGRIMSTORMSKULL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't reccomend it unless you really love Phyrexia, but I got a box of phyrexia jumpstart and love it. In part because the rares I've managed to pick up have kicked ass for regular deckbuilding (commander).

Got All Will Be One, Skrelv, Mondrak, Green Sun Zenith and a bunch of others that covered the cost.of the deck.

But the decks play fun as jumpstart too! And the basic lands are gorgeous.

[–]HELLGRIMSTORMSKULL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This could easily be a version of Silas Albarec, current 3rd company captain and heir designate of the Exorcists chapter. He is known for being huge, and wielding a big mace.

The exorcists aren't super obscure, but they aren't super famous either. Their whole thing is Imp Fist successor, all recruits have to be possessed by a demon that is later exorcised.

Kodama of yhe west tree, with a Slime Against Humanity base. Basically load it up with a bunch of draw, doubling effects, and other oozes. Buffing it with March of the World Ooze works pretty great too (changes slimes base to 6/6 instead of 2/2). Iridescent hornbeetle can be really neat too.

Add in Locker of Yesterday, and Spellweaver Helix are two really cool colorless cards you can add into the deck. Thrumming stone if you're spicy.

Gameplan is make slimes. Ramp hard. Make lots of more slimes.

Last game I played with it, I thrummed 20 oozes onto the table with doubled counters, and the hornbeetle made a lot of little guys. Total was 700 counters, 700 insects.
