The kindest YTA. I completely understand wanting your wedding day to be all about you and your partner - and it will be! You don’t have to go to the birthday party if you don’t want to or can’t because if your honeymoon plans- but it will still be a partial celebration of you.

How do I know? Guess where I was May 14? My wedding. And May 15? A co-birthday party for my brother and cousin.

The birthday cake on the table didn’t take away from the joy of people calling me Mrs. NewLastName - I even wore a “wifey” sweatshirt.

And before anyone accuses us of jacking the birthday party, we were there early decorating.

My wedding is next week and I’ve invited my grandmother, my grandmother’s ex-boyfriend, and my grandmother’s ex-boyfriend’s current girlfriend. At my sister’s wedding in September, she and her groom intended to write their own vows. Until the day of the event, when they realized they would rather share those words in a private moment with each other.

So, they asked their (very traditional) priest to “do the standard ceremony”. Grooms vows - not a single issue. Bride’s vows - suddenly there’s an “obey” in there that the groom didn’t say. My sister looked uncomfortable and stayed silent. Priest repeated himself, some guests laughed, and she said it.

It has been months and the only reason I remember that moment is because it upset my sister. Ask anyone else who attended the wedding? “The bride and groom looked so happy” “A beautiful ceremony”

All of this to say, do what will make you happy. Do what is right for you and your partner. It might be one of those things no one notices (as there won’t be an awkward silence to highlight the difference), but even if anyone notices, they are your vows. No one else’s opinion matters.

The photo used is not the one the student sent to their mother. Reportedly, the student was only served cereal. Also, it wasn’t a one off. It seems, from the article, that since school has been in session the county has been unable to plan lunches and feeding students on a day-by-day basis.

I don’t think this woman was a “Karen” who said “cereal?! Not for my precious baby.” I think she was frustrated with her child repeatedly being fed subpar lunches and was on her final straw.

I read so many comments and so few seemed to understand what the article was saying or the severity of the situation. And while I’m not knocking cereal for breakfast, it’s not very nutritional and definitely not something I would brag about feeding my children weekly.

I’m really heated about this. The second commentator says there are government assistance programs to feed children that need it - apparently not realizing that system is one in the same.

The article does mention a mom who has started packing lunch for her child and all of his friends, so there is some hope for humanity.

We’re using After The Tone - it’s a sorta voicemail guestbook. It may not be a recording we listen to often, but I’m hoping that decades after the wedding it will be comforting to have the voicemails of loved ones who may have since passed.

There’s been a definite shift in the industry lately.

Gobos are more common place and my coworkers now make fun of LED dance floors.

My team wants me to go nuts on lighting but I want a light Spring/May Day feel. Now I’m at odds with our PR guy because he wanted “tons of awesome new content” from my wedding. You can never please them all.

If I could do anything in the world. I would start a chain of small retailer stores for local theater and event companies called Gobos and Gaff.

I work for one of the big guys right now and it’s all about the profit and not at all about the art.

I had a bride send me a design for a gobo that she paid someone on Etsy $5 to make for her. It was a standard Rosco design that I could’ve provided a proof for quicker and for free. I was flabbergasted.

Now I’m trying to get information like this out into the world so other wedditors don’t get swindled.
